As an Associate Director of AI Design Strategy, you will lead a team of design strategists to define, pilot, and scale AI enabled and non-AI service, product, and ecosystem strategies. Establish the portfolio vision, governance, and ways of working that ensure safe, accessible, equitable, and measurable experience outcomes. Coach the team in human centered design, service design, experimentation, and evidence-based decision making.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision
    • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to articulate the member value of AI-driven design and assign resources for strategic initiatives
    • Driving design strategies & evolve road map to ensure continuous innovation and improvement of the member experience
    • Lead service blueprints and portfolio bets for both AI and non-AI journeys to de-risk and simplify experiences across channels
    • Identify and forecast trends in AI in healthcare and opportunities for innovation and market differentiation
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Hire, develop, and retain a diverse team of design strategists
    • Oversee a portfolio/journey and a specialized/portfolio focused team
    • Mentor and guide junior strategists through structured programs, skills development, and career pathing
    • Foster an inspiring, collaborative, creative, and inclusive environment for strategists, promoting engagement and high performance
    • Guide discussions and critiques of work, soliciting requirements from stakeholders, and being a key partner in delivering on the team's mission
  • Operations & Governance
    • Build repeatable ways of working; publish decision logs and playbooks for team reuse
    • Own portfolio health: capacity planning, prioritization, risk, dependency management, regular retrospectives
    • Define and enforce design strategy standards for prompting, agent orchestration, safety redlines, user content, transparency, and escalation flows
    • Drive cross-functional prioritization, tying investments to outcome metrics
    • Drive accessibility and equity standards across AI and non-AI experiences

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in design strategy
  • 1+ years accomplished in skillset of managing people/team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years in AI strategy
  • Familiarity with Figma or other similar design tools
  • Familiarity with Project Management

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $112,700 to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
