As the Design Manager at Masen, you will lead and oversee the engineering design efforts that are critical to the success of our projects from conception through commissioning. Our Team

Masen, a Koch owned and operated industrial data services startup, helps industrial operators implement and manage automated data collection infrastructure. Masen utilizes connected devices (IOT), various communication protocols, service and maintenance and an intuitive visualization platform to generate insights from the most challenging environmental use cases which enable our customers to create competitive advantage and maximize operational efficiency through data driven decisions.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and coordinate all engineering design activities to ensure alignment with project requirements, scope, and schedule.
  • Manage design contractors and internal engineering resources to identify and resolve design deficiencies efficiently.
  • Oversee vendor selection, scope management, and performance to guarantee quality and timely delivery of design services.
  • Facilitate thorough exploration, testing, and vetting of design solutions for feasibility, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support and occasionally lead project execution by collaborating with installation and commissioning teams to provide technical direction and design updates as needed.
  • Manage design documentation, including drawings and specifications, ensuring accurate field redlines and as-built updates are incorporated.
  • Identify design risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project milestones.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience in engineering design management within large-scale infrastructure, energy, data, or industrial projects.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary design teams and external design contractors.
  • Experience with design deliverables management, including CAD drawings, specifications, testing and evaluation protocols, and engineering documentation workflows.
  • Familiarity with engineering standards, codes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Working knowledge of typical wireless communication and related power systems (hardwired and independently powered) for Internet of Things (IOT) systems.
  • Experience demonstrating a proactive and resourceful mindset, with flexibility, humility, critical thinking, and adaptability to effectively navigate changing priorities and challenges

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience leading complex projects within an engineering firm or as part of an engineering capability within a large industrial company.
  • Experience working in large industrial manufacturing environments - particularly with Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) teams.
  • Demonstrated success in vendor management and contract negotiation for design services.
  • Working knowledge of project management software and engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, basic software dev tools, etc.).
  • Exposure to risk assessment and mitigation methodologies in engineering design.
  • Previous leadership experience mentoring engineering staff and fostering team development.
