Description

The Consumer Banking Risk & Operations Manager I (ROM) will ensure the operational health, safety, and soundness of Consumer Banking Branches. This will include assisting with complex operational issues and concerns, implementation and execution of the Branch Risk and Controls Inspections, creation, and creating remediation plans, creating reports on findings and oversight over operational metrics. This position develops processes and implements changes to lessen operational risks, training, coaching, and developing teammates to reduce regulatory, financial, and reputational risk. Other duties include continually monitoring the business to find potential new threats and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Position Accountabilities



  • Provide personable and professional operational leadership support to consumer branches.
  • Develop and successfully execute a plan to complete branch risk and control inspections within the requirement of the Operational Integrity Program.
  • Performs annual reviews of Policy & Procedures in accordance with the banks' requirements.
  • Identify financial, safety or security risks the consumer banking branches may encounter by inspecting, observing, and auditing high risk activities as part of the Operational Integrity Program.
  • Executes Root Cause Analysis to determine cause of deficiencies, gaps and breakdowns in controls that increases the risk of financial, regulatory, or operational risk within the branch environment.
  • Creates and manages risk and controls remediation plans to improve operational safety and soundness, reduce or prevent breakdown in controls from triggering a harmful event.
  • Creates, prepares, and presents final Debrief of findings, apparent reason for deficiencies, and corrective actions to Branch Manager, Market Manager and Risk & Controls Manager.
  • Collaborate with Market Leaders, Regional Presidents, and Risk & Controls Manager to elevate areas of concerns, ensure transparency with identified issues and problems.
  • Create and deliver Operations Integrity Training for new branch teammates and managers. Performs ongoing observation, coaching and training to branch teammates to ensure knowledge, and adherence of operational policy and procedures.
  • Leverage consumer banking knowledge and expertise to investigate issues efficiently with appropriate rational and critical thinking skills to interpret intricate issues and provide a decision and/or recommendation on how to proceed.
  • Support branches needs during times of unexpected events impacting business as usual operational activity such as systems offline, emergencies, robberies, and other escalated events of disruptions.
  • Transforms data into usable, goal-driven reports.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations governing bank operations, including compliance with Atlantic Union Bankshares' BSA/AML Policy and Procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience



  • 3+ years retail banking experience required
  • 3+ years leadership and coaching experience required
  • Previous experience with multi-site leadership preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
