Job Overview

As an HR Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the Corporate HR team while learning how Human Resources operates within a global organization. This role supports day-to-day HR operations for the Milwaukee office and provides exposure to core HR functions, including employee engagement and talent acquisition, as well as opportunities to collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (CoEs) and participate in engagement initiatives and programs. This position is based onsite at Komatsu's South Harbor location in Milwaukee and includes occasional local travel.


This internship will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee's Harbor District! We offer full-time hours during the summer, and flexible part-time scheduling during the academic year.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Gain competency utilizing the HRIS system, SuccessFactors, to process record changes for employees and contingent workers; responsibilities may include supporting or owning elements of the contingent worker entry and offboarding process for corporate functions, as needed
  • Support and participate in the Milwaukee Internship Program, which may include serving as an HR resource to peers, assisting with intern program events, and attending university career fairs or networking initiatives
  • Participate in recruitment activities such as intake meetings for open positions; posting job requisitions; reviewing resumes; and scheduling phone, video, and onsite interviews; may provide additional Talent Acquisition support as needed
  • Support the planning and execution of HR-led events and initiatives, which may include the HR Team Engagement Committee, Annual Employee Service Awards banquet, and HR Leadership Team Summit
  • Under the direction of aHR Manager, assist with reporting, research, and special projects as needed, which may include supporting the development of new policies and procedures
  • Support the HR team in handling employee relations matters and employee requests, as appropriate
  • Provide support for routine HR administrative tasks as needed
  • Learn about and support HR and Center of Excellence (CoE) functional areas within the heavy equipment industry
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality when handling company and employee information

Qualifications/Requirements

Required



  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Junioror Senior standing in good academic standing
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)


Preferred



  • Previous experience in an HR, administrative, or customer service role
  • Active involvement or leadership in student organizations or athletic teams
  • Basic understanding of Human Resources practices, terminology, and employment laws and regulations
