Georgia-Pacific is now hiring a Capital Procurement Manager! The Capital Procurement Manager will be part of the overall Project Sourcing and Procurement (PS&P) team but will focus on projects with capital spend above $100 million. It will be accountable for serving as a lead/supervisor over several PS&P leaders who support the development and execution of projects. The individual works to build strong relationships within the organization's business, operations, and project management teams, and to ensure the PS&P team effectively executes project sourcing and procurement activities for which the team is responsible. Additionally, the role will require the individual to drive process improvements and present innovative solutions to the project teams or on business processes used in the development and execution of projects. The individual is expected to be part of or influence various teams and work closely with relevant stakeholders to solve cross-disciplinary problems. The individual should be capable of influencing without decision rights and be comfortable working in a cross-functional organization. The individual will maintain supervisory responsibility for a part of the PS&P team and must be able to help coach and drive.

This will be an on-site position at the Georgia-Pacific headquarters office in downtown Atlanta, GA.

Our Team

Georgia-Pacific's Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SS&P) organization is tasked with the strategic category management, sourcing, and procurement of essential materials and services for over 140 locations nationwide. The SS&P organization is currently embarking on an exciting transformation alongside our business partners, developing new capabilities to identify and seize significant opportunities in pricing, total cost of ownership, and sourcing execution. This initiative is a key component of Georgia-Pacific's ongoing transformation. What You Will Do

  • Be a leader in Principle Based Management, particularly in promoting the proper application of the Five Dimensions, Comparative Advantage, Decision-Making Framework, challenge process, and economic thinking. Help drive Principle Based Management throughout the PS&P team and organization.
  • Support projects through the development of procurement plans, following business processes, and ensuring proper contract execution for Large Projects.
  • Work to develop relationships with the appropriate stakeholders to understand the Business and operations leadership priorities his/her team will support and communicate to the team. Help to ensure appropriate project strategies and procurement plans are established to support the execution of the priorities.
  • Serve as the supervisor of a part of the PS&P Team (consistent with Principle Based Management).
  • Coach and train the PS&P team and local teams, as needed, in the execution of capital procurement.
  • Drive one SS&P vision with Procurement Operations and Category Leaders to ensure those with the comparative advantage are working to further the appropriate value drivers within projects, categories, and operations.
  • Maintain a capital project focus that creates value in accordance with the GP Project Vision and SS&P Vision
  • Be a champion in driving the consistent use of processes and best practices within the PS&P team and across the organization.
  • Help to drive lessons learned on projects/processes across the overall PS&P team.
  • Work to remove barriers on specific project issues as they surface from an SS&P perspective. Champion creative destruction to further refine business processes related to the development and execution of Project Sourcing Planning.
  • Work to onboard additional stakeholders into the methodology of the PS&P Team and the broader project work processes.
  • Help the PS&P Team appropriately apply the Koch Risk Philosophy in the commercial/legal aspects of the project. Coach the team on applying sourcing and procurement strategies to project procurement plans, including project delivery models, value-creation ideas, supply market trends, internal usage/demand data, new product introductions, and global sourcing considerations.
  • Foster and leverage relationships with internal customers and external stakeholders.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree or 7 years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years of work experience in procurement/sourcing, operations, maintenance, supply chain, or project management
  • Direct experience training, coaching and/or mentoring direct reports in a leader capacity
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel an estimated 30%-50% (project dependent) of the time

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Project procurement knowledge and experience or project management experience within the industrial/manufacturing setting
  • Experience in negotiating and facilitating a complete contracting process
  • Use of eProcurement /eSourcing tools.
  • Experience with Asset Suite, SAP & MP2
  • Experience with manufacturing cost systems
