What you will be doing:

Premier Inc. is undergoing a multi-year transformation to modernize its platform ecosystem, unify data and intelligence capabilities, and accelerate enterprise value creation. The Chief Solutions Officer (CSO) leads this modernization effort across Product, Technology, Data Science & AI, Platform Engineering, and Member-facing solutions.

We are seeking a strategic, execution-focused Chief of Staff (CoS) to partner directly with the CSO and help drive significant transformation initiatives in the healthcare technology sector.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for a leader with experience in strategy, consulting, digital transformation, enterprise operations, or scaling technology organizations.

The Chief of Staff operates as the CSO's strategic operator - ensuring clarity of priorities, alignment across teams, disciplined execution, and measurable transformation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1 Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted partner to the CSO-supporting strategic planning, prioritization, and decision-making.

  • Translate enterprise strategy into actionable plans across Product, Engineering, Data Science/AI, Support, and Platform functions.

  • Drive alignment across General Managers (GMs), cross-functional leaders, and executive teams.

Responsibility #2 - Lead the CSO Operating Model & Governance

  • Design, facilitate, and optimize the operating rhythms for the CSO organization (weekly, monthly, quarterly).

  • Ensure that goals, metrics, and priorities are clear and executed consistently across teams.

  • Partner closely with the Program Management Office (PMO) to run portfolio governance, risk management, and dependency alignment.

Responsibility #3 - Enable Enterprise-Wide Transformation

  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives tied to Premier's platform modernization, AI adoption, and data strategy.

  • Identify organizational bottlenecks and implement solutions that accelerate transformation.

Responsibility #4 - Decision Support & Executive Readiness

  • Prepare the CSO for key meetings, executive leadership sessions, board presentations, and strategic discussions.

  • Synthesize complex issues into clear, concise recommendations.

  • Ensure timely, data-driven decisions supported by insights from the Premier Internal Intelligence Platform (PIIP).

Responsibility #5 - Leadership Alignment, Culture & communication

  • Foster alignment across teams by reinforcing clarity, accountability, and high-performance behaviors.

  • Build strong relationships with leaders across Product, Engineering, Data, AI, Support, and Member-facing teams.

  • Lead communication efforts on behalf of the CSO, including transformation updates and stakeholder messaging.

Responsibility # 6 - Drive Value Realization & Performance Monitoring

  • Partner with PIIP and PMO to track KPIs, operating metrics, portfolio performance, and transformation impact.

  • Identify risks and opportunities early, and drive cross-functional resolution.

  • Support the CSO in ensuring Premier achieves measurable improvements in platform adoption, execution efficiency, and Member outcomes

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 12 or more years

Education:

Bachelors (Required)

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

  • Strong Executive communication and influence skills

  • Ability to lead complex change initiatives, maintain operational excellence

  • Excels in driving transformation with clarity and precision

  • Systems thinking to connect enterprise priorities, strategic clarity to guide decision-making, and agility to adapt to evolving challenges

Experience:

  • 15+ years in transformation, strategy, operations, or consulting, additional Healthcare health tech experience is a plus

  • Seasoned transformation leader with deep expertise in enterprise-scale change and operational excellence

  • Familiarity with Databricks and cloud modernization programs, and exposure to private equity-backed transformation models.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive platform modernization using AI-driven approaches

Education:

  • MBA preferred

Working Conditions: Air conditioned office space Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $205,000 - $380,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
