Due to our continued growth, we are recruiting someone with experience to support the Risk and Compliance team in monitoring compliance with laws, regulations, investment portfolio guidelines, investment-related Board and staff policies that are in place for the billions of dollars managed by internal and external investment managers. A successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate the following: proficiency in Excel; strong attention to detail/technical acumen; excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal; collaborative work ethic; ability to comprehend complex financial concepts; and a robust attention to detail with the ability to analyze data, form conclusions, and provide recommendations. By the end of your first year, success would mean working with the team to leverage automation and technology to enhance program effectiveness. The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS, www.psers.pa.gov), is an agency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that administers the pension plan for Pennsylvania's public school employees. The mission of PSERS is to maintain a financially sound System that supports over a half million members with a current pension fund of approximately $83 billion. This position will play a contributing part in ensuring PSERS fulfills its mission and values. PSERS is in Harrisburg, PA, a mid-size city situated along the Susquehanna River. Teleworking is optional, with an occasional need to report to the Harrisburg office as operationally necessary. If requesting to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and be located in Pennsylvania. The Harrisburg area is affordable and near many attractions including Hershey, and it is only two hours from major cities and airports like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Intermediate Investment Professional will assist with monitoring compliance with laws and regulations that impact PSERS Investment Office. The individual in this position will serve as a primary back-up for monitoring compliance with investment portfolio guidelines for internal and external investment managers, investment-related Board and staff policies. In performing the duties for this position, the individual will focus on leveraging automation and technology to enhance program effectiveness. This position reports directly to the Investment Compliance Manager and will operate with some independence and authority for a variety of investment related responsibilities of a moderately complex nature. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are negotiable, 7.5 consecutive hours between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a one-hour or half an hour lunch.
- Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, 30 days in office per year. This position is hybrid telework eligible, dependent on operational and executive leadership requirements. All teleworking must occur within Pennsylvania. If requesting to telework, incumbent must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection at their Pennsylvania telework location. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a PSERS' Junior Investment Professional; or
- A Bachelor's degree and one year performing relevant investment compliance and/or investment auditing; or
- Five years performing relevant investment compliance and investment auditing; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of any of the following professional accreditations may be substituted for relevant work experience:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA): 1 year
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA): 1 year
- Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA): 1 year
- Financial Risk Manager (FRM): 1 year
- Professional Risk Manager (PRM): 1 year
- Certified Securities Compliance Professional (CSCP): 1 year
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Two or more years of experience in investment compliance
- Two or more years of experience in investment auditing
