Brief summary of purpose:

To make available attractive, nutritious and palatable meals in an efficient, pleasant and clean environment while maintaining federal, state and district guidelines. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Registered dietitian. The employee also interacts with and takes direction from the day center manager and program Director. The employee is expected to respect the right to privacy and security of PHI (Protected Health Information) and EPHI (Electronic Protected Health Information). Positive and effective interpersonal/communication skills are required.



Responsibilities

Primary Job Responsibilities

    Assists in the preparation, service and cleanup of meals using district menus, standardized recipes, designated portion sizes and following district menus sanitation procedures
  • Follows work schedules and plans and organizes duties prior to beginning tasks
  • Stores, utilizes and disposes of food and supplies following federal, state, local and district regulations
  • Follows sanitation and safety standards in clean up and operation of the kitchen and kitchen equipment.
  • Reports equipment needing repairs to the Supervisor, Food Service and Cook
  • Reports accidents to the Supervisor, Food Service and Cook immediately
  • Safely uses cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Performs such other tasks as may be assigned within the parameters of the job
  • Assists Registered Dietitian with maintenance of Emergency food supply; rotating items as necessary
  • Adheres to weekly cleaning assignments
  • Complies with department rules, procedures, administrative directives and regulations, district policies and procedures and local, state and federal rules and regulations
  • Completes mandatory in-services as required by NYS DOH and CMS regulations
  • Performs food preparation duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor, Food Service
  • Completes required tasks or duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

License/Certifications:

Certified in SERVE SAFE preferred.

Experience:

  • 6 months to 1 year of food service experience
  • Knowledge of food service line set-up and temperature requirements.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.

Pay Range Disclosure:
In accordance with the Massachusetts Wage Transparency Act, the pay for this position is $19.00 per hour which reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay at the time of posting. Final compensation will depend on the candidate's experience, skills, and fit with the role's responsibilities.
