POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Controls Engineer role involves implementing established project controls policies and procedures. The Project Controls Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Cost Control Manager and Schedule Manager in the analysis of project data and the preparation of monthly Reporting. For scheduling this included the assessment of contractor schedules for progress and good schedule practice and the integration of contactor schedule changes and progress into the master. On the cost side, provide cost control and financial support, including internal and external reporting, month-end closing duties, and analyzing and communicating project performance.Additional project controls tasks beyond cost and schedule will be assigned as time allows.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SCHEDULE



  • Execution and publication of schedule quality checks and reports utilizing established procedures.
  • Preparation of the monthly schedule construction review reports for all bridges.
  • Preparation of weekly layouts and reports for use by Project Teams.
  • Preparation of other reports and layouts as needed by project stakeholders.
  • Update of the Master Project Schedule with data from the Subcontractor's files utilizing established practices and processes.
  • Validation of data imports to ensure the master schedule is consistent with contractor updates
  • Update of tables and graphics for use in reporting from schedule data
  • Continuous monitoring of the P6 database for consistent application of activity codes, calendars, and other project specific data sets
  • As needed Database cleanup of accumulated schedules, UDFs, baselines, and other fields


COST



  • Perform tasks required to develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and overall cost control for the project. Includes cost coding, invoices review, cost-to-date analysis, cost projection and cash flow analysis, expenses review, cost and time allocation, etc., collecting actual installation, monitoring progress per cost account, etc.
  • Support the updating of project forecasts to reflect the most accurate/current cost and estimate information.
  • Prepare and analyze information for monthly cost control meetings and other cost, budget, and forecast related meetings.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all cost-related records, including invoices, change orders, and financial reports.
  • Perform quality checks on revenue (cost) data on Subcontractor's P6 files, ensuring accuracy and consistency, and export data to support cost-related analysis and reporting activities.
  • Update and quality check on revenue (cost) information on the Master Project Schedule P6 file, including export data for use in cost-related analysis and reporting.
  • Perform additional cost-related analysis as per specific project requirements


OTHER



  • Additional tasks will be assigned by the Schedule Manager, Cost Control Manager or Project Controls Manager as needed. Included but not limited to various monthly reports, tracking of KPIs, and assistance with project closeout.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



  • A degree in engineering or construction management plus two years of similar construction cost/estimating experience or equivalent combinations of training and related experience. Or commensurate industry experience in the heavy civil construction industry or construction project controls.
  • Primavera P6 knowledge, including cost and resource loading
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to self-prioritize and self-start projects and task work
  • Ability to effectively multi-task similar activities in a fast paced, time sensitive environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Advanced verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office
  • PowerBI skills are preferred
  • Experience with cost reporting systems such as Vista, JD Edwards, HCSS or similar preferred


PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods.
  • Requires driving occasionally for up to 2-5 hours.
  • Minimum physical exertion such as walking, lifting, standing for long periods, bending, or reaching may be required.
  • Requires visual ability to perform tasks: preparing and analyzing data, plans, drawings, outlines, viewing a computer, and extensive reading.
  • Requires the ability to physically operate standard office equipment, i.e., laptop, phone, keyboard, mouse, etc.
