How you'll make an impact:

The Staff Quality Engineer is a strong individual contributor and responsible for test automation, test case management and mentoring of other engineers on the team. The team's main responsibility is to create, automate, and execute test cases that conform to requirements of an OEM implementation of a Sirius XM Radio. The test execution is a combination of manual and automated testing, and ranges from functional to stress testing.

The ideal candidate will have a provable track record of writing and automating functional test cases, in sophisticated software architectures and experience leading a team. This position requires a detail-oriented individual that is a self-starter who can work both independently and within a team environment.

What you'll do:

  • Provide risk analysis, prioritization, and scheduling of automation and regression test efforts

  • Provide regular and accurate reports to the Senior Director of Software Application Development and perform special projects, and other duties as necessary.

  • Research and recommend new approaches to solve strategic issues

  • Communicate test status and impediments to stakeholders

  • Create test plans and delegate tasks to the team if needed

  • Create, execute, and record test cases and test results

  • Report defects in JIRA

  • Create scripts if required to generate and compare automation test reports.

  • Perform log analysis and troubleshooting using Charles Proxy and other native debugging tools

What you'll need:

  • A BSEE or BSCS or equivalent is required. MSEE or MSCS or equivalent preferred.

  • 7+ years of successful, relevant software development and validation experience. Acceptable product areas include:

    • Automotive sound manufacturers (radio head units, CD Players, telematics systems, navigation systems, etc.)

    • Android or iOS Apps

    • Mobile telephone systems

    • Satellite receivers

    • Automotive engine controllers

    • Blue Tooth and / or WiFi products

  • Proficiency with test automation using Selenium, Cucumber and other automation tools

  • Proficiency in software testing and test methodologies (smoke testing, unit testing, regression testing, white and black box testing)

  • Expertise in creating functional test cases

  • Familiarity with programming languages (C++, Java) and scripting languages (Python, Bash)

  • Familiarity with REST HTTP protocols

  • Familiarity with defect management tools (JIRA and JAMA)

  • Familiarity with Windows, Android and Linux-based Operating Systems

  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

  • Experience in participating in formal test suite review and providing relevant and insightful feedback to team members

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details

  • Good public speaking and presentation skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized

  • Ability to project a professional image over the phone and in person

  • Commitment to "internal client" and customer service principles

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects

  • Spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills

  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $111,800 to $165,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
