The Smart Mobility Practice is seeking a Traffic Engineer in Boise, Idaho.

This role supports a wide range of traffic engineering design and planning projects and is ideal for a mid-level profession who enjoys a variety of project types and sizes. As a Traffic Engineer, this position will provide support for Smart Mobility and other practices as necessary that may involve design for traffic signals, illumination, signing, striping, temporary traffic control, and ITS communications, in addition to traffic analysis and operational studies.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Signing and striping plans
  • Construction traffic control/construction phasing plans
  • Traffic signal plans
  • Illumination plans
  • Traffic data collection management
  • Traffic analysis and operational studies
  • Traffic impact and warrant studies
  • Pedestrian and bicycle facility design and planning studies
  • Evaluation of transportation performance of complex systems using planning and engineering tools and metrics
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Current Professional Civil (PE) License in Idaho or Engineering Intern (EI) Certification with ability to obtain PE within 1 year
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in traffic engineering, demonstrating hands-on experience in traffic engineering design and operations analysis.
  • Collaborative team player who communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and project teams
  • Demonstrated experience with technical writing and clear documentation
  • Takes ownership and shows initiative in delivering high-quality work
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal design standards and guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as a consultant
  • Recent and relevant project experience with ITD with delivery of transportation plans and/or studies
  • Experience as a project Task Leader
  • Experience training others in fundamentals of traffic design tasks
  • Microstation OpenRoads
  • AutoCAD and AutoTURN
  • Agi Lighting Analyst
  • Synchro / SimTraffic
  • Highway Capacity Software (HCS)
  • Vissim
