Department Overview

Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation, and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and morethan 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E's successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

Position Summary

This is an ESC represented exempt classification currently subject to collective bargaining.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location based on business needs.

Under supervision and with latitude for independent action or decision, performs responsible engineering work on a professional level in design of engineering jobs, projects, or parts thereof. Prepares designs, calculations, drawings, layouts and/or studies from field inspections, preliminary sketches, rough diagrams, specifications, and/or instructions requiring knowledge of engineering practices and shop and field procedures. Checks drawings, designs, or other work. As requested by his/her supervisor or assigned Senior Design Engineer, coordinates and directs the work of employees in lower classifications and provides guidance for training, orientation, or familiarization purposes to associates engaged in allied work.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the timeofthe job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to anindividualwill be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses orcertifications,experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreement, and internalequity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this role will be placed towards the middle or entry pointof the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related to these factors.

Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the starting hourly rate range for this position is $44.70 to $74.42,subject to collectively bargained wage increases.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in the appropriate field of engineering from a recognized college or its equivalent in education and experience. Equivalency may include education and design drafting experience totaling six years, or education and experience totaling four years including two years at PG&E as a Design Drafter or Senior Design Drafter. Must have a working knowledge of material and equipment including commonly used national specifications and standards, building, or other appropriate codes and fundamental engineering principles and techniques.

  • Revu Bluebeam Experience
  • Experience working with hybrid legacy scanned drawings within MicroStation CAD
