What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Solutions Architect & Product Owner to drive the realization of new capabilities across our organization. In this dual-capacity role, you will blend solution architecture expertise with product ownership responsibilities to modernize service delivery, expand digital engineering capabilities, and introduce innovative automation. You will act as the bridge between stakeholders and development teams, ensuring that business priorities are translated into actionable deliverables aligned with strategic goals. By combining technical insight with agile leadership, you will help shape how new solutions are delivered and maximize their impact on the organization.

This position is hybrid, meaning the selected applicant may work remotely part of the time but must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned work location for onsite needs.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Refine and manage backlog items, ensuring they balance stakeholder priorities with technical feasibility
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters and development teams to plan and deliver sprints or program increment (PI) events

  • Identify opportunities for automation and design innovative solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing platforms
  • Provide architectural insight to guide solution design, ensuring new capabilities are scalable, secure, and forward-looking
  • Lead collaborative sessions to gather requirements, clarify objectives, and align deliverables with strategic goals
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders both business and technical stakeholders at Sandia and across the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) while championing continuous improvement and the adoption of agile practices
Salary Range

$117,500 - $235,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field, plus 5 years of relevant experience; or equivalent (AS + 9 years or no degree + 13 years)
  • At least 2 years of experience in a product ownership (or similar) role driving agile process improvements, automation, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire

  • Ability to create and communicate a clear product vision and strategy that aligns with business goals and customer needs
  • Experience guiding agile teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Hands-on experience modernizing digital engineering platforms or large-scale enterprise applications
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities for automation and deliver integrated, innovative solutions
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Skilled at influencing and securing buy-in from diverse groups, including senior leadership
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe Product Owner certification
  • Nuclear Deterrence (ND) domain experience at Sandia, NSE sites, and/or NNSA, including knowledge of the Product Realization Integrated Digital Enterprise (PRIDE) program
  • Experience delivering large-scale, enterprise software solutions, leveraging the Scaled Agile Framework.

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
