Job Overview

As the Sr. Director, Private Brand - Home, you will manage our in-house, Private Brand Merchants, Design, Technical Design, Materials & Product Development team to develop seasonal assortments that are exclusively available at Macy's.

What You Will Do



  • Own Private Brand financial performance
  • Present topline strategies to the Private Brand P&L leader
  • Collaborate with Macy's GMMs on optimizing omni channel positioning for private brands products and hit % penetration goals for Private Brands YOY
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product merchandising strategy utilizing a data driven approach to analyze customer behavior and develop consumer centric product strategies and experiences across all channels.
  • In partnership with the Trend Research & Forecasting and Brand Strategy teams, monitor market and internal trends to ensure Home merchandising strategy is competitive and consumer centric.
  • Possess deep understanding of the competitive landscape and customer to identify opportunities for growth and improvement in the Private Brand portfolio.
  • Manage the Private Brand Design, Technical Design, Materials & Product Development team to build and execute seasonal assortments that are exclusively available at Macy's, including assortment selection, and strategies that supports the high-level product vision while maximizing sales, margin, and turn.
  • Manage development of the assortment within different High-Med-Low business operating models
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in Buying, Assortment Planning, Financial Planning, and Marketing to ensure alignment and consistency from product strategy to messaging and positioning.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes and workflows to increase efficiency and productivity within the department.
  • Develop a pre-season assortment vision aligned with company priorities and insights from Digital, Buying, and Planning counterparts
  • Evaluate upcoming season trends in partnership with Design, Trend Research and Forecasting, identifying key trends and white space opportunities.
  • Partner with Financial Planning, Assortment Planning and Buying to ensure department-level financial targets support assortment strategy.
  • Develop assortment vision guiding product development strategy, color/sizing opportunities, testing new products/categories, and alignment on marketing/digital strategy with Buying and Planning counterparts.
  • Partner with Financial Planning to reforecast sales in season looking for ways to amplify successes and mitigate risks.
  • Partner to establish pre-season pricing strategy with input from the Buying and Digital Director and partner with the Pricing team on in-season adjustments.
  • Collaborate with the Buying, Merchandise Marketing team and Digital Director to set content and promotional strategies, including Home events.
  • Develop and lead pre-season and in-season merchandising vision and strategy to create a seamless shopping experience for customers both in stores and online.
  • Travel to Asia with the Home product and design team to visit factories and suppliers 1-2x a year to review protos.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.


Skills You Will Need



  • 10 years of experience in fashion retail with deep expertise in merchandising. Previous experience in buying, trend, design, and/or product development experience is preferred.
  • Strong financial planning acumen essential. Must be comfortable talking about sales, margin, turn, WOS and all the financial levers that exist to drive a business.
  • Strong strategic and analytical ability

  • Excellent verbal and written ability; Adept at presenting information and storytelling
  • Ability to align with, collaborate and influence cross functional partners and peers

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office computer programs is essential for the role.
