Job Overview

The Senior, Project Management is an Agile-savvy, technically proficient professional who owns and manages the planning, execution, and delivery of development projects. They partner closely with producers, developers, operations, QA, and project, program, and domain management teams to ensure successful project outcomes. As a skilled communicator in a team-oriented, technical environment, this role drives alignment and facilitates collaboration across all stakeholders.

What You Will Do



  • Own and manage complex projects or multiple concurrent projects, overseeing all activities to ensure successful execution and final delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the project roadmap, manage the plan, implement necessary adjustments, and communicate status, issues, and updates to the team, PMO, and domain management.
  • Proactively remove blockers and escalate issues or risks with appropriate urgency.
  • Apply existing standards and processes consistently throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead change management processes to ensure smooth adoption and implementation of project initiatives.
  • Facilitate team planning, communication, negotiation, and self-management to drive alignment and productivity.
  • Serve as Iteration Manager, administering the iteration lifecycle, backlog, and story cards in VersionOne.
  • Ensure completion of project audit controls and closeout activities.
  • Onboard and coach other project managers in processes, issue resolution, and audit compliance.
  • Actively pursue learning opportunities to acquire skills and knowledge that support macys.com's growth and innovation.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews and communicate lessons learned to relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Skills You Will Need

Agile Proficiency: Strong understanding and application of Agile methodologies.

Technical Expertise: Solid technical background, particularly in development projects, with experience in retail/ecommerce preferred.

Project Management: Ability to manage complex projects or multiple projects, overseeing all related activities and ensuring successful execution and delivery.

Roadmap and Planning: Skilled in creating project roadmaps, managing plans, making adjustments, and effectively communicating status and issues to stakeholders.

Change Management: Drive and manage change management processes.

Facilitation: Excellent facilitation skills for planning, communication, negotiation, and promoting self-management within teams.

Software Development Knowledge: Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, QA, testing methodologies, and experience across all SDLC phases.

Communication Skills: Clear, concise, and continuous communication, with the ability to present to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, able to work across functional lines and at multiple organizational levels.

Creative and Strategic Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to solve complex problems.

Certifications: PMI or CSM certifications are helpful but not required.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 6 plus years managing enterprise-level software development projects from initiation through completion, ideally ecommerce initiatives. 4 plus years of experience managing software development efforts using Agile (Scrum, XP, lean, etc.).
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
