The Development Engineer I will be responsible for engineering functions in the design and fabrication of mechanical and/or digital solutions in support of the services provided by the Immersive Design Systems Applied Engineering team. Contributes to the development of innovative devices or processes and relies on the application of engineering expertise to design, develop, and deliver solutions to our clinical collaborators. Works under general guidance independently and as part of a work team. This is a primarily onsite position based in Boston, with the possibility of remote days depending on project needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to concept, design development and fabrication projects within the team, and occasionally takes the lead on smaller-scale projects.
  • Assists in the upkeep of the engineering studios and their equipment, ensuring adherence to local practices and guidelines for internal procedures and equipment usage.
  • Keeps abreast of technological advances in relevant areas of interest and provides valuable insights and recommendations to the management team.
  • Supports the team in identifying opportunities for enhancing existing services or introducing new services to the Immersive Design Systems Applied Engineering team.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar field required, Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
  • 2 years of related experience in one or more of the following: 3D Printing, Computer-Aided Design, Organic Modeling, Device Development, Software Development, Immersive Technologies (VR, AR), Device Manufacturing. An advanced degree may substitute for experience.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with 3D anatomical modeling is highly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of engineering and device design development principles, concepts, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with engineering design software & tools, proficiency in CAD and/or organic 3D modeling software

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
