Summary of Job Duties:The crisis mental health clinician/case manager coordinates and provides crisis intervention, initial consultation, and case management services for students seeking or needing clinical services from Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). This position has primary responsibility for assessing students presenting in urgent distress or crisis, coordinating initial consultation disposition, and implementing necessary follow-up, including coordination within CAPS and with campus and community partners. Duties include crisis intervention services; monitoring high-risk initial consultations; case management and follow-up to ensure continuity of care; coordination with hospitals, psychiatric facilities, community providers, and campus stakeholders; assistance with psychiatric hospitalization and aftercare; participation in after-hours on-call rotations; oversight and coordination of documentation from after-hours crisis vendors; provision of individual and/or group counseling, workshops, and outreach activities; development and maintenance of referral and community provider databases; program development related to case management and crisis services; training and onboarding of trainees and new staff related to intake, hospitalization, and crisis procedures; clinical documentation; obtain and maintain licensure in the state of Arkansas in the relevant discipline; and other duties as assigned by CAPS leadership. The position has routine shift hours, infrequent overtime, or shift rotation.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This position holds significant responsibility as a "remote essential" role. In challenging situations such as inclement weather or emergencies, when the Pat Walker Health Center or campus needs to close, CAPS clinicians will be on standby to provide services via telehealth when clinically appropriate.

The decision to continue telehealth services will depend on clinical appropriateness, client preference, and available resources. Our primary goal is to ensure continued access to quality mental healthcare during unexpected closures. To be fully prepared for such events, all staff members must take their UA-issued laptops home nightly during the work week and each weekend. This way, they can readily assist with client access and telehealth services if CAPS is unexpectedly closed during the following business day.
