This position is responsible for the performance of robotics equipment at the designated Distribution Service Center (DSC). Robot performance includes but is not limited to safety, throughput, uptime, and continuous improvement. The position will serve as the first line of defense for robot programming and software issues and shall assist the site maintenance team with troubleshooting robot electrical and mechanical issues. The position is expected to be available 24x7 for critical support needs. Robot equipment is defined as order picking gantry robots, associated equipment including stretch wrappers, labelers, conveyors, and associated software including AWCS.

Additional Information

Monday- Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (Off shift flexibility required to support a 24/7 operation)

This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.

  • Responsible for robot KPIs including utilization and total throughput

    • Create/update robot SOPs for operation and troubleshooting. Assist with development of maintenance SOPs and work processes. Review Operator and Mechanic processes to ensure safety and efficiency.

    • Optimize robot configuration to improve throughput and utilization.

    • Develop and analyze data to drive continuous improvement. Champion execution of continuous improvement initiatives. Leverage third party vendors and GSC Engineering resources to implement improvements.

    • Reduce robot downtime frequency and duration. Support robot reliability initiative to achieve RX Level 4.

    • Lead robot incident investigations. Ensure all investigations are documented in central location. Communicate learnings to other facilities.

    • Communicate regularly with the GSC Engineering Robotics team to facilitate knowledge transfer and improvement activities

    • Work closely with robot vendors and OEMs to internalize knowledge and reduce reliance on external companies

    • Attend trainings with vendor or partner sites to identify and implement best practices

    • Regularly monitor SKU volumes and pick frequencies to optimize output

    • Apply standard work/lean techniques to drive improvement

    • Maintain historical log of all spills with root cause analysis

    • Achieve annual cost savings goals

    • Support creation and execution of capital projects related to robotics

    • Site champion for recurring communication/CIP meetings with other locations to share learnings and best practices.

    • Train and develop other site resources as backup

    • Support our operational excellence initiatives as defined by the Five Focus Areas

    • Support Site Manager and staff as needed with critical data requests and ad hoc reports

    • Oversee robot operators


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have at least (1) one year of experience in Manufacturing or Distribution environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have completed 2 or 4 year technical degree (IT, Engineering, other)
  • Have completed training in IT or robotics
  • Have completed training in relevant software programs and tools
