Overall Summary

As Import-Export Associate, the main purpose of your role will be to manage shipments to and from foreign countries. You will manage data for international shipments and provide support for many steps of the transportation process. As Import-Export Associate, you will work with customs agents, warehouse staff, shipping companies, and customers, in addition to managing other aspects of accounts such as, but not limited to, shipping, receiving, returns, back orders, complaints, etc.

Your duties will include:



  1. Import-export processes to ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign government laws and regulations. Fill out import-export documentation, compile carrier and route assignments, compute international fees for each shipment, and keep track of shipment payments and quotas. Coordinate with freight forwarders, vendors, transportation companies, and customers to ensure international shipments were made.
  2. Track shipments and communicate with customers about the package's progress. Coordinate shipping with customs agents for clearance on overseas deliveries. Must assist with obtaining freight quotes and costs from prospective shippers to ensure that MPO and the customers are receiving the most cost-effective service. Handle claims with insurance companies if any shipment problems occur.
  3. Become familiar with special projects and analysis as required by Department Management - sales analysis, cost comparisons, etc.
  4. Works directly with the EMEA International Customer Service Team to ensure priorities are being met. (All correspondence received must get a response within 24 hours).
  5. Develop and maintain all support functions relative to order processing to assure the highest level of customer service which may include handling accounts of his/her own. This includes maintaining month end activity reports for the team as well as monitoring incoming email folders to ensure customer needs are being met.
  6. Maintain appropriate and professional relationships within the department and other internal areas within the company.
  7. Ensure all policies and procedures are followed in accordance with ISO 9000/ BSI requirements and written procedures in the corporate Quality Documentation procedure system.

We might be a great match if you have:



  • Extensive knowledge of documentation preparation as required by customer, carrier, U.S., and foreign custom: such as, but not limited to, AWB, Shipper's Letter of Instruction, Certificate of Origin or Compliance, Commercial Invoices, and Proforma Invoices. Knowledge of Import Licenses and filing of Shipper's Export Declaration's (SED).
  • Good working knowledge of Accounts Receivable, International Inco terms and collection methods.
  • Experience using advanced features in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required. Will be responsible for creating charts and graphs, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Experience working with and tracking Temporary Import Bond (TIB) shipments. This would include working with brokers and Customs for reporting export of shipments and closure of TIB with appropriate government indices.

Preferred: Associate Degree

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Associate: Minimum 1 year of experience working in a medical device customer related environment
