As a Resort Engineer at Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak, you are responsible for the overall upkeep and repair of the resort. You proactively inspect and repair areas of the building's exterior HVAC roof top units, boilers/chillers, public areas, fitness center, kitchens and guest rooms. In this particular role, your trade focus is on maintaining our electrical needs. There is a large amount of guest service needed as you respond and resolve any guest issues with great communication and skills. The most important characteristic of our team is that we love inspiring lasting memories for our guests. In this position, you exhibit excellence in your commitment to our guests.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including ammeters, and test lamps.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
  • Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
  • Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
  • Keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance and repairs.
  • Continually support and improve engineering services that effectively address problems affecting both guests and associates.
  • Be willing to train and instruct other members by passing along knowledge and skills to assist them in their development and the advancement of your own.
  • Respond to room calls, using proper entrance procedure. Make repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair AC/heating malfunctions, electrical outages, timers, thermostats, electrical switches, circuit breakers. Replace and dispose of HVAC filters.
  • Monitor Fire Alarm/Life Safety systems as necessary, be fully informed of the system operation and able to handle emergencies. Be knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.
  • Observe energy and utilities usage in the hotel and on the grounds. Look for ways to conserve energy.
  • Clean, lubricate, protect and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel. Secure in proper storage area.
  • Act in an engineering capacity to protect our guest and team members in an emergency situation, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency. Act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status.
  • Be aware of all existing departmental Job Safety Analysis. Strive to work in an accident-free manner. Create a safe work environment for others. Take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Climbing, reading, standing, walking and routinely lifting 25 lbs to 50 lbs. Must be able to receive instructions and communicate progress of work assignments.
