What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a self-motivated Process Engineer to ensure continuous production quality and enable world-class manufacturing of Tesla'scutting-edgehumanoid AI robot.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a profound impactininnovation of the humanoid bot manufacturing space. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on a critical subsystem of the Optimus architecture.
The successful Process Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to aggressively ramp the Optimus to full-scale production and beyond. This individual will develop robust operational processes togreatly improveefficiency and quality in Bot manufacturing. This includes analysis of yield, cycle time, and process capability. The engineer willleveragelean manufacturing principles, poke yoke fixtures, data visualization, material flow, andpossessan exceptional ability to root cause based on first principles. They willidentifytrends and signals in process data to allow rapid generational leaps in Bot manufacturability and rate. This individual is exceptional at communication through data, with a demonstrated ability todeleteand simplify complex process steps.
What You'll Do
- Review critical process metrics daily for statistical shifts from nominal and develop game plans to address
- Identifyand develop critical processmonitorsand metrics for Optimus manufacturing toidentifyand resolve key constraints to full scale production
- Lead cross functional implementation of complex assembly processes to production
- Guide and develop roadmaps for aggressive improvement to OEE metrics: Yield, Cycle Time, Availability, and Cost. Report metrics to upper management
- Manage workload with a positive attitude as a team player in a collaborative work environment
- Drive continuous improvement activities for engineering and manufacturing including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities, material handling improvements, production line configuration, and safety procedures
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or equivalent experience
- Ability to derive data-supported root causes and propose strong countermeasures
- Tableau, R-studio, Minitab, and/or JMP experience preferred
- Must be able to pull datausingefficient SQL queries, and in the absence of available databases, must be hands on in gathering critical data as systems develop in parallel
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly, capacity for managing simultaneous activities and challenges
- Demonstratedexperience in ramping a manufacturing line
- Proven history of innovation and drive to do things better, cheaper, faster in alignment with Tesla's aggressive approach to ramping production lines
- Desired Manufacturing Skillsets - Ignition Automation experience, familiarity with two-part adhesives, Atlas-Copco fastener rundowntracesand quality detection methods
- Additive manufacturing and CADstronglypreferred
- Familiarity in Vision inspection systems preferred, such as Keyence 2D image inspection and profilometry
