Summary Responsible for instructional design, strategies, assessment, and innovative learning techniques. Location: This position is full-time (40-hours/week) Monday-Friday in a typical office environment. This role is onsite at 51 Clemson Rd. Columbia, SC.

Position Purpose: The Workforce Development Specialist designs and delivers learning programs that improve workforce performance. The role identifies training needs through gap analysis and partners with customer groups to implement effective learning solutions.

What You'll Do:

  • Leads projects related to learning and training program design, development, and implementation for both internal and external clients/customers. Assesses training needs through surveys, employee interviews, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives. Evaluates instructional objectives and course content and matches them with appropriate instructional delivery methods that maximize subject-matter mastery and skill development.

  • Designs training to support departments, including developing, planning, and maintaining course materials such as instructor manuals, participant guides, elearning modules, trainthetrainer materials, job aids, evaluations, and tests, utilizing best practices, policies, standards, and procedures. Creates content and applies design principles to educational materials for both traditional and blended learning solutions. Develops competency models and career paths that support organizational needs.

  • Facilitates training programs to improve job skills and support departmental initiatives. Presents information using a variety of instructional techniques and formats, including roleplaying, simulations, team exercises, elearning, group discussions, videos, and lectures. Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs and instructors.

  • Teaches training skills to other instructors and management. Serves as a subject matter expert to departments and staff on training development.

To Qualify For This Position, You'll Need The Following:

  • Required Education: Bachelor's in a jobrelated field

  • Degree Equivalency: 4 years of jobrelated work experience, or an Associate's degree and 2 years of jobrelated work experience

  • Required Work Experience: 8 years in design, development, implementation and evaluation of adult learning and development programs preferably in an insurance or service environment.

  • Required Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, conceptual, and planning skills. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously both independently and with groups. Strong knowledge of needs assessment techniques. General knowledge of methods for reporting statistics. Ability to work continually and effectively under stringent pressure including constant and numerous deadlines and company and contract ambiguities. Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral and visual media.

  • Required Software and Other Tools: Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems.

We Prefer That You Have The Following:

  • Preferred Education: Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or a related field.

  • Preferred Licenses and Certificates: Development Dimensions International (DDI) Facilitator Certification; Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP).

*Work Environment: Typical office environment. Some travel may be required.
