Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $28.88 to $49.76/hr. Learn more about the benefits of working at UC Brief Summary of Job Duties: Under direction, responsible for operating, coordinating, and directing instructional support and event presentation for Isla Vista Theater (IV) & Embarcadero Hall (EH). Acts as Supervisor for events at IV and EH in absence of Senior Public Events Manager. Acts as consultant to faculty, staff, and student presenters. Trains and supervises student employees. Tracks and incorporates new technologies. Schedules and maintains audio/visual equipment. Ensures positive client relations by strongly emphasizing a customer service policy. For reference, below are UC's policies addressing some forms of misconduct: UC Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy UC Anti-Discrimination Policy Abusive Conduct in the Workplace Job Functions and Percentages of Time: Live Performance Support/Execution (45%): Conducts logistic preparation for live performance including the scheduling of equipment and support staff in Isla Vista Theaters (IV) & Embarcadero Hall (EH), and other venues as assigned. Provides venue information to clients. Provides audio-visual, computer and multi-media support for events primarily for EH and IV and occasionally other venues as assigned. As directed, hangs, and focuses lighting instruments, programs lighting console, and dedicates control channels for said instruments. Programs and operates stage lighting systems for events in assigned venues. Provides sound support for a variety of events and meetings. Sets up, breaks down, and operates sound equipment. Elements include, but are not limited to, Midas, QSC and Mackie consoles, multiple microphones, and stage monitors. Acts as liaison with campus safety officials. Instructional Support (20%): Provides audio-visual, computer and multi-media support for all classes scheduled in EH and IV. Operates equipment including but not limited to video projectors, computer based presentation equipment, audio and video playback equipment. Operates computer hardware and display equipment. Includes but is not limited to desktops, laptops, data projectors, network interface, peripherals, software installation and consultation. Sets-up audio equipment and routes audio signal for recording and playback purposes. Ensures positive client relations adhering to the Classroom Services' "customer service" guidelines. Elements include providing "no-miss" service, punctuality, reliability, ability to be technically competent and courteous under duress. Confers with and instructs faculty regarding equipment packages and methodologies for classroom presentations. Under supervision, projects Digital Cinema (DCP) films for classes, and events in Isla Vista Theaters. Ingests, tests, and coordinates students staff for screenings. In conjunction with other Classroom Services staff, tracks emerging technology and incorporates this technology into IV and EH. Assists other areas of Classroom Services on presentations and events. Informs Media Equipment Technical Services staff of needed repairs. Advises supervisor(s) regarding purchases of new or replacement equipment. Researches necessary equipment specification, analyzing vendors based on price availability and service provision. As needed, operates all equipment for media support to other campus venues. Provides back-up support for IV and EH and acts as supervisor when needed. Drives vehicles for the purpose of delivery of personnel and equipment. Administration/Supervision (15%): Acts as technical consultant for Isla Vista Theaters and Embarcadero Hall. Recruits, trains, evaluates, and supervises student employees. Provides on-going, on the job training for employees. Supervises and coordinates instructional support and event presentations by the student staff. Allocates resources to meet those needs. Prepares work orders, estimates, statistical reports and billing. Generates reports on equipment utilization, daily work logs, statistics etc. using a networked database. Monitors and accounts for equipment inventory. Maintains security of the complex and its equipment. Maintains the Operations Manual. Maintains the Emergency Operations Manual and the Material Safety Data Sheet Book for the complex. Provides event supervision as needed. In conjunction with other classroom services employees, tracks emerging technology and incorporates this technology into IV and EH. Consultation and System Design (10%): Consults with departments, committees and clients regarding staffing and equipment needs for special events. Consults with clients to prepare cost estimates and budgetary alternatives. Works with faculty and clients to ascertain computer and audio/visual needs and recommend or design systems for their use. Analyze current technological trends to prepare for future needs. Consults and advises Facilities Management representatives on maintenance and upgrades.
