Primary Job Responsibility:

The I&E Supervisor directs and coordinates maintenance operations with a primary focus on leading the Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance teams. This role is responsible for achieving objectives related to production, quality, equipment reliability, safety, cost control, and on-time delivery. The supervisor ensures effective execution of maintenance processes, drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports project planning and execution, and leads the training and development of team members to sustain a skilled, high-performing workforce.

Description of Job Duties:
|
- Supervises daily activities of I&E Technicians, including troubleshooting, calibration, installation, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Partner with the Planner and Production to coordinate job planning and scheduling based on equipment availability. Participate in weekly scheduling meetings and support the development of weekly maintenance schedules.
- Overseas Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs
for instrumentation and electrical assets, including PLCs, DCS hardware, analyzers, control valves, transmitters, and plant electrical distribution systems.
- Collaborate with Production Supervisors to ensure HIPPS proof testing and ISO
instrument calibrations are completed on or before due dates to maintain regulatory and operational compliance.
- Coordinate with the Process Control Group to troubleshoot and repair Programmable
Logic Controllers (PLC) and Distributed Control System (DCS) hardware issues in the field, recognizing that software configuration and programming remain the responsibility of the Process Control Group.
- Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget as part of the overall Maintenance
budget for the Maintenance Department budget, exercising sound fiscal responsibility to control costs and remaining within approved spending limits.
- Ensure accurate maintenance data, personnel and safety records are supplied on a timely basis to all support departments.
- Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and housekeeping requirements,
including Planned Job Observations, STOP Observations, emergency equipment inspections (e.g., fire extinguishers) and assigned area inspections.
- Address labor and personnel matters with professionalism, consistency, and sensitivity to support a positive, union-free working environment.
- Provide on-going training, coaching, direction, and guidance to department personnel to continually improve technical skills, work practices, and safety performance.
- Evaluate employee performance and accountability through mid-year and annual
performance reviews, including face-to-face feedback discussions and documented development plans.
- Provides continuous, objective feedback to support employee growth, engagement, and
accountability.
- Serve as a management representative, applying strong supervisory and leadership
practices in daily operations and decision-making.

Required Knowledge / Skills / Experience:
|
- High school diploma or GED required, supplemented by completion of an Apprenticeship Training Program in the Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) trade.
- Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in an I&E maintenance role, preferable within a
petrochemical refinery or heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 5-7+ years of supervisory experience within a petrochemical or refining
industry.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA
70E, and ISA standards.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in process control systems, electrical systems up to
5kV, motor controls, instrumentation, and analytical equipment.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with site leadership and field operations personnel.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word,
Excel and PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise diverse work groups in a team environment,
utilizing effective listening, coaching, training, investigation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement, initiative, and effective time management in a fast-paced environment with limited resources.

Preferred Skills:
|
- Associate's degree in the I&E field.
- 10-15 years of hands-on experience in Instrumentation and Electrical maintenance within an industrial plant environment.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience within the petrochemical or refining industry.
- Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills related to process analyzers, control valves, and
instrument loops.
