Position Description

The Power Tool Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting and assessing the condition of client and/ or Company power tools, diagnosing and carrying out repairs, and replacing broken parts. This role utilizes deep technical knowledge and experience to identify faults, suggest improvements and determine replacements. The Repair Technician must ensure that all repairs are conducted safely and in accordance with OEM requirements. This is a customer-facing role exercising great customer service, explaining any necessary repairs in detail and ensuring proper maintenance and operation of the entrusted power tools.

This role is expected to adhere to all company policies and safety protocols.

Key Competencies Required to be Successful as a Power Tool Repair Technician:



  • Communicate with coworkers or client representatives to coordinate installations or repairs.
  • Inspect mechanical equipment for maintenance, or to locate damage, defects, or wear.
  • Read technical information, work orders or descriptions of problems to determine repairs or modifications needed.
  • Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order.
  • Inspect electrical or electronic systems for defects.
  • Assemble/ solder/ rewire electrical components, subsystems, or systems as required.
  • Test electrical circuits or components for proper functioning.
  • Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning as required.
  • Test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Rebuild/ reassemble equipment after repair.
  • Seal gaps or cracks to prevent leakage or moisture intrusion.
  • Measure equipment outputs and test for operation to required specifications.
  • Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain repair and maintenance records.
  • Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products.
  • Sharpen cutting, grinding, or other repair equipment/ tools.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.


Education/Certification/Licenses



  • Minimum of high school diploma required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in a technical related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two to five (2-5) years of experience in small power tool inspection and repair in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance record creation/ retention.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.


Target Base Compensation range for this non-exempt role is $26.00 - $28.00/ hr. DOE.

This is a Full-Time position, eligible to participate in the Company's benefit plans including: Paid Time off; major medical, dental, vision; Company paid short-term and long-term disability; paid parental leave; various supplemental benefit plans; and Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP).
