Job Summary

The Aerospace Assembly & Inspection Technician is responsible for performing both assembly and inspection activities in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This role supports the production of structurally sound aerospace components while verifying product characteristics and associated documentation to ensure compliance with customer, company, and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Assembly Responsibilities
* Assemble aerospace components and subassemblies by interpreting engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical instructions.
* Verify correct quantities, quality, and configuration of parts and materials prior to and during assembly.
* Use hand tools, fixtures, and mechanical equipment to produce structurally sound products.
* Inventory parts and tools used in the assembly process.
* Test completed assemblies for defects and workmanship issues.
* Maintain tools and keep a clean, organized, and well-maintained workspace.
* Follow company procedures, safety requirements, and manufacturing directives.


Inspection Responsibilities
* Perform inspection processes as defined by work instructions, drawings, and quality requirements.
* Verify product characteristics and manufacturing documentation using visual, mechanical, contact, and non-contact inspection methods.
* Perform first article inspections in accordance with site policies and procedures.
* Execute customer and regulatory delegated inspection activities when authorized, and maintain delegated authority as required.
* Identify, document, and support resolution of non-conformances through root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean manufacturing and inspection process improvements.

Job Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED required.
* 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment, including assembly and/or inspection activities.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
* 1+ years of experience with inspection methods, techniques, and work instructions.
* Awareness of AS9100 series requirements and Lean practices.
* Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.



Preferred Qualifications
* GKN Aerospace experience.
* Experience in an aerospace operating environment.
* Associate's degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent technical training.
* Demonstrated ability to recognize discrepancies in materials, processes, or documentation.
* Previous delegated product acceptance authority granted by an Aerospace OEM or regulatory body.
* Familiarity with 3D model-based engineering and basic shop math (fractions, decimals, addition, subtraction).



Physical Requirements
* Standing and walking at least 7hrs/day
* Ability to carry and lift weight up to 25lbs
* Bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling required (At least 2hrs/day)
* Use of hands for fine dexterity, light and strong grasping (At least 7hrs/day)
