Job Description:

Providing for loved ones, planning rewarding retirements, saving enough for whatever lies ahead - our policyholders count on us to be there when it matters most. It's a big ask, but it's one that we have the power to deliver when we work together. We collaborate and innovate - pushing one another to transform not just Pacific Life, but the entire industry for the better. Why? Because it's the right thing to do. Pacific Life is more than a job; it's a career with purpose. It's a career where you have the support, balance, and resources to make a positive impact on the future - including your own.

We are seeking a Platform Owner for Portfolio Planning & Delivery to lead the approach, configuration, evolution, and maintenance of our enterprise-wide tooling ecosystem, anchored by the Planview application. This role will serve as the resident expert and technical steward of technologies that enable project, program, and portfolio delivery across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate will bring deep subject matter expertise in delivery methodologies (agile, hybrid, and waterfall methods), paired with the technical proficiency to design, configure, manage, maintain, and govern these platforms for maximum business value. This position sits at the intersection of delivery, technology, and operational insight and will play a key role in enabling scalable, high-quality execution across Pacific Life's technology strategy.

This position is part of our Enterprise Financial Solutions team within the Technology department. It is on-site, at our state-of-the-art Newport Beach headquarters.

How you'll help move us forward:

Platform Ownership & Configuration

  • Serve as the technical platform owner for Planview.
  • Translate delivery methods (agile, waterfall, hybrid) into configurations and workflows that support scalable execution.
  • Own platform-level roadmaps, release planning, and backlogs, working with stakeholders to prioritize needs.
  • Drive the planning and execution of deprecation or migration strategies for legacy platforms (e.g., OnePlan, Smartsheet).
  • Own and drive proactive maintenance, lifecycle management, and incident response.

Stakeholder Partnership & Intake

  • Partner with business stakeholders, delivery leaders, and portfolio managers to understand needs and translate them into platform capabilities.
  • Establish and manage structured intake and prioritization processes for new platform features or enhancements.
  • Work closely with platform sponsors and business product managers to ensure alignment with enterprise delivery and reporting goals.

Governance & Reporting

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Portfolio Management and other teams to ensure configurations align with standards and frameworks.
  • Enforce appropriate usage, data hygiene, and compliance with delivery workflows.
  • Provide governance and oversight on access, permissions, and auditability of data.
  • Design and build dashboards, reports, and insights that support executive decision-making, portfolio management, and delivery health.
  • Partner with data and business analysts to integrate relevant data sources and ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.

Change Management & Enablement

  • Support or lead rollout and training strategies for new features in partnership with delivery enablement and communication teams.
  • Serve as a thought leader in how tools can enable operating model maturity and delivery excellence.
  • Document configuration logic and serve as a support contact for platform troubleshooting and ongoing optimization.

The experience you bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in project, program, or portfolio management, with significant time spent configuring or managing tools such as Planview or Clarity.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate delivery methodology into platform workflows and enablement tools.
  • Deep knowledge of agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery models and associated lifecycle stages.
  • Experience building dashboards and data visualizations (e.g., in Power BI).
  • Ability to partner with stakeholders across functions and levels.
  • Strong systems thinking, analytical mindset, and structured problem-solving skills.

What makes you stand out:

  • Familiarity with enterprise portfolio governance processes and planning cycles.
  • Experience with integration between portfolio tools and platforms like ADO, Jira, ServiceNow, Workday and Oracle.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to align competing priorities.
