THE POSITION

Are you searching a role that blends high-level coordination with hands-on impact? Join the Department of Education as an Assistant Director with the Bureau of Library Development for the chance to help oversee key operational units, strengthen internal workflows, and ensure clear, consistent communication with stakeholders across the Commonwealth. This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape and advance statewide library services through participation in strategic planning, policy implementation, and program oversight. If you are a collaborative and detail-oriented professional, we want you to play this central part on our team!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

By serving as Assistant Director, you will support the Director of the Bureau of Library Development with long-range planning, program oversight, and the implementation of regulatory and policy directives that guide statewide library development programs. This includes supervising and coordinating the work of two operational units to help ensure successful implementation of these programs and related services, in addition to representing the Bureau in various internal and external engagements. Our team will rely on you to interpret and apply current library law and policy, as well as develop policy, procedure, and workflow recommendations to ensure and improve program effectiveness, consistency, and alignment with strategic goals.

You will also manage external and internal communications. This includes maintaining routine communication with the Office of Commonwealth Libraries administrative team and the Bureau of the State Library, as well as managing the Bureau's external communications by serving as our primary editor and proofreader for all outgoing, public-facing materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with policy and Bureau messaging.

If you are ready to write the next chapter of your career by fostering coordination and collaboration, ensuring clear communication, and creating meaningful partnerships that support innovation, consistency, and excellence in library service delivery, this is the role for you!
