About The Position

The Metallurgical Engineer provides metallurgical support to operating department personnel to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the generation, transmission and distribution equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform metallographic failure analysis to determine failure mechanism and probable cause.

  • Provide guidance on material selection and suitability for intended application.

  • Develop, coordinate and execute inspection plans for high energy piping systems in the fossil-fired power plants.

  • Support plant engineering staffs to develop and execute condition assessments and remaining life studies on high temperature components in the fossil fired plants.

  • Consult with plant engineers on a wide range of metallurgical issues.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Power or petrochemical industry experience preferred. Field experience or course work in non-destructive testing, welding or welding metallurgy, and/or failure analysis preferred. Must have working knowledge of ferrous metallurgy. Working knowledge of metallurgical laboratory equipment preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Access required. Must have good analytical, communication, and human relations skills. Some travel required.

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$71,100.00 - $215,300.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
