North State Bank has an exciting opportunity for a Mortgage Closer in our Raleigh Mortgage Department. The Mortgage Closer coordinates and facilitates the mortgage loan closing process upon approval from underwriting to ensure customer service and delivery expectations are achieved. Bilingual preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages pipeline for clear to close loans and ensures accuracy of information prior to the preparation closing documents, including but not limited to: title review, taxes, insurance, fees and third-party invoices.
  • Confirms closing and enters required data in the loan origination system.
  • Imports loan data to third party vendors for preparation. Reviews and corrects imports as necessary to produce an accurate closing package.
  • Prepares and sends initial closing documents to the borrower within the appropriate time to meet TRID guidelines.
  • Prepares final closing document and works with closing agent to obtain final closing document that meets compliance regulations, then provides accurate closing document to agent.
  • Obtains and clears all conditions required that are listed as "prior to closing" or "at closing"
  • Prepares accurate funding requests and submits to Finance for wire to be sent to agent.
  • Pays the VA and FHA MIP fees via the appropriate websites.
  • Confirms loans closed, funded and conditions of closing were satisfied.
  • Assists in clearing post-closing deficiencies.
  • Register loans with MERS after funding.
  • Answers inquiries from applicable parties in the transaction regarding the closing of the loan.

Qualifications (Includes education, certifications, experience, etc.):

  • An associates degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three or more years of mortgage closing or related experience within the mortgage and/or real estate industry.
  • Working knowledge of real estate titles, deed preparation and closing documents.
  • Down Payment Assistance (DPA) closing experience preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Bilingual, preferred.
  • A strong customer service orientation while demonstrating prioritization, organizational and multi-tasking skills with a sense of urgency.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office products and mortgage origination software or similar software.
