The Opportunity
General Dynamics Land Systems is seeking Engineering Project Manager who will be responsible for leading a cross-functional team with responsibility and authority to deliver key engineering products and integrate and test them at the subsystem and vehicle level. This role will be located at our Sterling Heights MI facility.

The Role
Engineering Project Manager
The Engineering Project Manager provides engineering leadership of a cross-functional team with responsibility and authority to deliver key engineering products and integrate and test them at the subsystem and vehicle level. The Engineering Project Manager leads or oversees related performance activities and drives key engineering decisions to meet project schedule and cost goals, Additionally, the Engineering Project Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation of process improvements and proposal activities required to capture Phase 5 of the XM30 platform.


Key Job Elements and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for cost and schedule management of the engineering product team for various key platform phase capture, proposal, process development and execution scope areas
  • Provide management of the following potential proposal and capture areas: technical offering, PSPEC compliance and trade management, Soldier Vehicle Assessment (SVA) preparations, etc.
  • Provide cross-functional teams with leadership oversight to successfully implement required phase capture program and GDLS process improvements in the following areas: digital engineering, MOSA, APQP, configuration management, etc.
  • Manage the planning activities related to the IMS/IMP for execution key platform phase execution
  • Ensures product is developed in accordance with GDLS engineering standards to achieve program requirements
  • Provide direction and guidance to applicable stakeholders to deliver technical products and deliverables to support project milestones
  • Manage the XM30 Phase 5 engineering team to deliver on technical scope within project constraints, and ensure customer expectations will be met
  • Signature authority over related scope, schedule, and budget decisions
  • Responsible for review and approval of related products / CDRLs / Milestone review content
  • Individual will have control account responsibility for engineering with select projects and scope areas
  • Supports trade/technical decisions within the engineering team
  • Responsible for execution and management of design release to Engineering Release Plan (ERP) for required projects
  • Responsible for related subcontractor performance and coordination for engineering tasks
  • Coordinate with functional departments on related technical resource needs
  • Supports negotiations of technical requirements, scope and deliverables

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 7+ years of applicable experience.
  • Experience in design, development and integration of military vehicles is a plus
  • Desire to learn and grow as a leader of engineering projects
  • Works well in team and individually
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and people skills are required
  • Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) experience is preferred
  • Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) knowledge is preferred
  • This position requires an Anthropometric Size Restrictions (ASR) evaluationfor vehicle entry
  • Ability to report on-site at the primary work location
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Ability to travel when needed

Additional Information
  • This position may require occasional travel.
  • Availability to work outside regular business hours as needed, to address critical issues.
  • This role may require eligibility to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a clearance).
