The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to assist the Director of the Law Enforcement Officer WitnessesUnit (LEOW), who is responsible for obtaining, reviewing, and distributing police officer disciplinary records to both the Criminal and Supreme Court Divisions. The Director works with QDA attorneys and Information Technology staff, as well as police officers from the New York City Police Department and various other agencies throughout New York State (NYS), to enhance document sharing practices required under NYS criminal practice discovery laws. This position offers the unique opportunity to work on dynamic issues involving discovery and police disciplinary records. Tasks assigned will include, but are not limited to:
Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree with a focus on criminal justice or related education and/or experience is preferred. All candidates must have at least a high school diploma or its educational equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience as a paralegal, legal assistant or other work in the criminal justice field. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate the ability to interact with attorneys, staff, police officers, and outside agencies in a professional manner, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach, including strong follow-up skills, accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines is also required. Adherence to stringent requirements regarding legal records management, data protection, and privacy/confidentiality is required. The Administrative Coordinator must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience with the federal courts' PACER website is also preferred.
