Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for a Shipping Clerk to join our Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) group in Hampton, Virginia. The available shifts hours are 2nd shift, M-F 2pm-10pm. Training is 1st shift, M-F 7am-3pm.

Job Summary: The Shipping Clerk will coordinate activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment weekly. They will establish and coordinate departmental activities to meet objectives to coincide with plant goals.

Prepares shipment documentation for shipments to customers/vendors.

Works on various customer websites/systems for arranging pickup or posting shipments.

Responsibilities include:

Follow Howmet's Safety Regulations and Work rules Handbook along with all departmental specific safety requirements.

Responsible for shipping office, use of Oracle (EBS) and OCHMS (Lot Trace).

Input part data into computer for release to customers and maintain correct information in lot trace system.

Monitors inventory in shipping and works with production planning to ensure parts are shipped in a timely manner.

Prepares documentation for parts to customers.

Prepares and sends invoices to customers.

Prepares documentation for miscellaneous shipments.

Prepare bills of lading and air bills.

Packs small UPS/Fedex shipments.

Assist dock workers packing castings for shipment (when needed).

Filing as required.

Mobile equipment certified preferred (walk behind pallet jack & forklift).

Has partial responsibility for shipping department in the absence of the shipping supervisor.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree.
  • This position requires a minimum of one to three years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
