Marine Steam Engineer

Position Summary:

As Marine Engineer, you will support steam machinery control systems onboard Navy surface ships and Submarines/Aircraft Carriers and work alongside program managers, engineers and Navy personnel.

Contract Specifications:

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Steam controls data analysis/trending/reporting, logistics development, project planning, training support, test plan and procedure development and meeting/presentation support.
  • Conduct ship visits (inspections and data collection).
  • Steam controls calibration and verification
  • Troubleshooting propulsion boiler steam systems and related support equipment
  • Installation support for new system upgrades onboard US Navy ships and Submarines
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • BS in Marine Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 1.5+ years' experience in steam machinery controls operation, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Steam shipboard experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Works well in a team environment


Desired Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • PLC with Ladder Logic based machines
  • PLC experience with Fairmount Automation Schemas desired



Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, prolonged standing and prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
