MINIMUM SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience (12 mo. contract position)

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) is one of sixteen independently accredited colleges that comprise the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). The College operates six campuses and serves ten counties in south central Kentucky. General Purpose:
SKYCTC invites applications for a collaborative and visionary leader to serve as Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Vice President of Academic Affairs works in close partnership with the President and the executive leadership team to advance the College through shared decisionmaking, transparent communication, and a commitment to collective success.
The Vice President of Academic Affairs provides strategic leadership for all academic programs, faculty and staff development, and teaching and learning practices that engage and empower students.
The Vice President of Academic Affairs reports directly to the President and serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner in advancing the College’s academic mission. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Vice President collaborates with other senior leaders to align academic priorities with institutional goals.
The successful candidate will champion academic excellence and ensure that SKYCTC’s programs prepare students for meaningful careers, transfer opportunities, and lifelong learning.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides overall leadership and supervision in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the College’s instructional units, including academic divisions, developmental education, academic advising, library, digital learning, and accessibility services (ADA).
- Actively collaborates across divisions in implementing strategies and measurable actions that directly contribute to achieving College goals.
- Participates in the recruitment and retention of full-time and part-time faculty, as well as academic affairs staff personnel who support the instructional units; makes final recommendations concerning employment and retention to the President.
- Supports initiatives to ensure the College's compliance with requirements established by SACSCOC and all other specialized accrediting agencies for the institution and programs. Develops and maintains appropriate procedures and records in the academic areas required for SACSCOC accreditation purposes.
- Facilitates and participates in the professional development and performance evaluation processes of the faculty and staff in academic affairs. Works with the President, deans, and academic leadership to facilitate faculty promotion. Makes recommendations to the President on all faculty evaluations.
- Participates in the development and implementation of the College’s strategic plan and institutional effectiveness.
- Facilitates effective academic practices that foster and measure student learning, retention, and success.
- Collaborates with Workforce Solutions and College administrative units to strengthen partnerships with business and industry through responsive education and training.
- Responsible for program/curriculum development and evaluation of efficient yearly class schedules that promote program offerings and support SKYCTC’s budgetary revenue goals.
- Prepares budget requests and oversees the approved academic affairs budget(s).
- Participates in the development of the College budget.
- Coordinates and oversees grant development for Academic Affairs.
- Aligns academic programs with regional economic needs and community priorities. Maintains focus on continuous improvement of academic programs to remain relevant.
- Provides system leadership in concert with the administrative staff of the KCTCS and its colleges to enhance academics, student success, and retention initiatives within KCTCS by maintaining effective communication within academic affairs.
- Shares responsibility with other senior administrators for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with partner schools, colleges, universities, and organizations in the College’s service region.
Position Requirements:
- Doctorate in an academic discipline, higher education, or educational leadership from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across executive leadership, academic divisions, and administrative units to achieve shared goals and foster a culture of transparency, communication, and mutual accountability.
- Record of successful experience in a community and technical college with five (5) years of college academic leadership experience required. Multi-campus administrative experience preferred.
- Experience or background in curriculum revision, program development, and faculty and staff development that is tied to student learning, retention, and successful outcomes.
- Commitment to assessing quality instruction and student learning, including curriculum competencies in writing, reading, creative thinking, ethics/values, technical skills, and integrated learning.
- Exhibits high-level proficiency in fiscal management and data analysis.
- Upholds the mission and vision of a comprehensive community and technical college.
- Promotes effective team leadership and alignment with the College’s values.
- Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong personal and professional integrity.
