Applications Engineer - LS/SWIFT Division

The LS-SWIFT Division of KLA's Global Products Group provides patterned wafer inspection systems for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. Its mission is to deliver market-leading cost of ownership in defect detection for a broad range of applications in the production of semiconductors. Customers from the foundry, logic, memory, automotive, MEMS, advanced packaging and other markets rely upon high-sample wafer inspection information generated by LS-SWIFT products. LS (Laser Scanning) systems enable cost-effective patterned wafer defect detection for the industry's most sophisticated process technologies deployed in leading-edge foundry, logic, DRAM, and NAND fabs. SWIFT (Simultaneous Wafer Inspection at Fast Throughput) systems deliver all-wafer-surface (frontside, backside, and edge) macro inspection that is critical for automotive IC, MEMS, and advanced packaging processes as well as foundry/logic and memory fabs. As an Applications Engineer, you'll work closely with customers and multi-functional teams to maintain and optimize laser scan tools, develop innovative applications, and drive improvements for next-generation products. This role combines technical expertise with customer engagement, ensuring our tools deliver maximum value in advanced semiconductor fabs.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

  • Deliver expert technical support that ensures optimal tool performance in customer fabs
  • Implement detailed installation plans
  • Develop and implement applications that solve customer problems using existing and pre-release products
  • Work with engineering teams to resolve hardware/software issues, scope feature requests to improve current products, and collect requirements for future products
  • Coordinate activities with customers and internal teams
  • Maintain strategic customer relationships
  • Deliver technical presentations and customer training
  • Assist sales teams with technical assessments and product specifications
  • Travel Required up to 20% to support high-volume manufacturing sites

Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years
  • Experience in semiconductor fabrication or equivalent educational experience
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor process flows and defect types
  • Experience in system-level troubleshooting, diagnostics, and reporting
  • Cleanroom experience and semiconductor device characterization
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems, networking, and analysis tools

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong customer focus and ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Motivation to innovate and proactively deliver exceptional customer outcomes
  • Proven technical leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills
  • Ability to present technical content to diverse audiences

Minimum Qualifications

Base Pay Range: $102,000.00 - $173,400.00 Annually Primary Location: USA-OR-Hillsboro-Beaverton-KLA KLA's total rewards package for employees may also include participation in performance incentive programs and eligibility for additional benefits including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, life, and other voluntary benefits, 401(K) including company matching, employee stock purchase program (ESPP), student debt assistance, tuition reimbursement program, development and career growth opportunities and programs, financial planning benefits, wellness benefits including an employee assistance program (EAP), paid time off and paid company holidays, and family care and bonding leave.
