Description

The Department of Anthropology at Dartmouth College invites applications for the McKennan Postdoctoral Fellowship in Archaeology. We seek applicants with an active research program that engages archaeological science to explore significant questions about the human past. Methodological and regional specializations should intersect with the research interests of one or more departmental faculty. The McKennan Fellow is expected to teach two courses per year, collaborate on research projects with faculty mentors, and participate in the academic life of the department and the College. Fellows should plan to be in-residence at Dartmouth during the fall, winter and spring academic terms.


This position is full-time, non-remote, in-residence at Dartmouth in Hanover, NH, with start date as early as September 1, 2026. The McKennan Postdoctoral Fellowship is a two-year appointment, potentially renewable for a third year. The position includes a competitive salary and offers access to lab facilities, equipment, and institutional research funding. Postdoctoral researchers are advised and hosted in the Anthropology department. They are also supported by the Guarini School for Graduate and Advanced Studies, including their community initiatives.

Qualifications


  • PhD in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field, or ABD with degree received by the start date.
  • Active program of field and/or lab-based archeological research.
  • This position is eligible for J-1 visa sponsorship for eligible candidates. Employment is contingent on authorization to work in the United States.
