Overview: WOOD Federal Solutions is seeking an experienced Scrum Master / Agile Lead to support a mission-critical, large-scale software and hardware integration program for a federal customer. This role is ideal for a servant-leader who thrives in complex environments, enjoys enabling high-performing teams, and knows how to balance discipline with pragmatism.

In this role, you will guide one complex Agile team, or multiple smaller teams, within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Agile Release Train (ART). You will help teams deliver real, incremental value while continuously improving how they work. Beyond facilitating ceremonies, you'll act as a coach, problem-solver, and change agent, removing impediments, strengthening team dynamics, and helping teams mature in their Agile practices.

This is not a check-box Scrum Master role. You will work closely with Product Owners, System Engineers, Release Train Engineers, and fellow Scrum Masters to ensure commitments made during Program Increment (PI) Planning are met and that teams are supported, focused, and protected as they execute.

If you enjoy creating clarity in complex systems, enabling teams to do their best work, and contributing to outcomes that matter, this role offers both challenge and purpose.

Application Process: Interested candidates should submit their resume detailing their qualifications and experience.

Security Clearance Requirements:

This position requires all candidates to be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph.

Responsibilities

Facilitate one or more self-organizing Agile teams to ensure progress against Program Increment (PI) objectives and commitments.

  • Protect the team from scope creep and unplanned work during PI execution.

  • Identify, remove, and escalate impediments as needed, coordinating closely with Release Train Engineers (RTEs) and other Scrum Masters.

  • Coach and reinforce Scrum, Scrumban, and/or Kanban practices to ensure Agile principles are understood and followed.

  • Foster open communication, collaboration, and accountability within and across teams.

  • Ensure teams have a clear understanding of the Definition of Done and how to consistently meet it.

  • Lead and facilitate SAFe ceremonies, including:

    • Sprint Planning

    • Sprint Reviews and Demos

    • Sprint Retrospectives

    • PI Planning

  • Partner with Product Owners and System Engineers to refine backlogs and develop high-quality User Stories aligned to Feature acceptance criteria.

  • Coordinate with other teams on the Agile Release Train (ART) and communicate status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.

  • Maintain and evolve information radiators, dashboards, and Agile metrics to promote transparency.

  • Collect, analyze, and share team metrics; identify when new metrics are needed and drive continuous improvement.

  • Observe team dynamics, identify strengths and improvement areas, and coach teams toward higher performance and Agile maturity.

  • Promote teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement through experimentation (e.g., pair programming, cross-functional training).

  • Create a positive, engaging team environment that encourages trust, ownership, and growth.
