The Maintenance Planner is expected to follow the maintenance work flow process to maximize effectiveness of the crafts and overall maintenance function. This person will interact regularly with maintenance staff, craftsmen, operation Superintendents, and management. Requires a good understanding of and experience with accepted industry practices for planning work, materials, services, technical information, and a good understanding of safe work practices in a chemical plant. *Job Responsibilities :
- Follow the standard maintenance work flow process
- Interact with operations in the screening of work notifications to ensure that the scope of work, equipment involved, priority, and expected completion date is understood and realistic
- Walk job area to clarify scope of work and expectations; take field measurements as needed, and document field information for job plan
- Expertise in planning out job steps and resources which include labor, materials, services, special tools, work instructions, technical information, drawings, safe work permitting, etc.
- Write work instructions where standard work instructions do not exist; collaborate with discipline specialists and engineers as needed for work instructions
- Understand basics of all typical maintenance crafts, and know who to contact as specialized resources for planning details
- Communicate with venders to clarify job scope and obtain quotes for materials and services
- Maintain awareness of the target date for job scheduling and completion, complete planning 2-3 weeks in advance, and communicate with operation UTL s when the target date is not feasible
- Coordinate regular updates with internal customers to facilitate communication on job planning progress and obstacles
- Responsible for preventive maintenance planning in collaboration with discipline specialists and engineers; update task lists as needed to maintain accurate PM job plans; update equipment BOM s as needed to maintain accurate parts lists for planning
- Assemble and issue job packages; drive continuous improvement in the completeness of the job package as a communication and quality management tool for the maintenance work process
- Monitor and maintain planning backlog within targeted control limits
- Monitor planning accuracy versus target, and drive continuous improvement
- Requires significant use of SAP in work planning, issuing material/service requisitions, warehouse parts reservations, and tracking parts delivery
- Focus on maximizing efficiency of the maintenance work process to achieve completion of work in the minimum time needed and with quality work results.
- Function as the primary point person for I/E repairs and work status.
- Responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient execution of all instrumentation and electrical maintenance activities.
- This role provides daytoday supervision of I/E technicians, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, supports unit reliability and production goals, and coordinates closely with Operations, EHS, and other Maintenance disciplines.
- Direct and prioritize daily work for I/E craftsmen
- Ensure accurate completion of work orders, labor reporting, and parts usage in the maintenance management system
- Foster a culture of teamwork, respect, and accountability in line with Westlake workplace behaviors and expectations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- 5 years experience in a petrochemical environment
