Job Responsibilities:

The Chief Business Product Officer provides strategic vision, executive leadership and oversight for the Business Product Group (BPG), which in short summary, projects and is responsible for non-dues revenue generation. This includes accountability for sales and revenue from: SSPD, Publishing, Corporate Relations, Sponsorship, CE Grant, Database Licensing, HPI, Seal Program, ADABEI, ADA Insurance Portfolio, and international initiatives, relative to the Business Product Group.

The position is the lead strategist and implementor on selection of, and close working relationship with, the current ADA revenue partner (currently BroadCastMed). This role also has oversight of the activities and financial operations of ADA Corporate Ventures (ACV).

The Chief Business Product Officer (CBPO) defines and leads the sales vision, planning and execution for the entire BPG and working closely with internal and external stakeholders. The CBPO acts as the key strategist, sales development/growth, and integrator between various sales and marketing functions within the BPG including but not limited to Sales Enablement, Product Development, Publishing and the ADA Seal Program.

CBPO leads a cohesive team focused on both individual sales (targeted primarily to dentists and dental professionals) as well as group sales (targeted at businesses and institutions mainly but not limited to the dental industry).

CBPO also works closely with the Editors of JADA and JADA Foundational Science (both independent contractors).

CBPO oversees the Business Development and Innovation (BDI) group, ADABEI, the ADA Insurance Portfolio and ADA Corporate Ventures.

Must Have:



  • Master's Degree
  • 15 years of experience in business strategy, professional products business development, or management and growth of revenue producing products
  • Experience in new product development to adapt to the shifting needs of audiences and advertisers and overall skills in successfully coalescing a diverse team of employees across innovation, development, and marketing
  • Knowledge in high business acumen and ability to assess different products/lines while operating in different markets with different purposes and profitability expectations
  • Comprehension of and basic knowledge in the latest trends in digital information
  • Excellent oral and written communications, negotiation, planning, leadership, project & time management, peer relationship, collaboration, analytical, business and organizational skills
  • Must have verbal communication, writing, analytical, negotiation, collaboration, presentation, a self-starter, results-focused, prioritization, strategic skills
  • Proficiency in M365
  • 25% to 50% travel (3+ times per year for 1-3 nights per trip for annual meeting attendance, partner engagement, trade alliance gatherings, constituent relationship building, professional meetings with trade show components)
  • Position may require more than the standard number of hours of work within a workweek, weekend work, and/or before or after hours work
