As a Senior Build Engineer , you'll be creating the next generation of our continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipeline for Sonos. You will design, develop, and implement workflow automation solutions including: source control management, build and continuous integration, artifact and release systems, and delivery through cloud services. Your goal will be to make it easy and efficient for developers to go from ideas to code to a releasable artifact.

What You'll Do

Build Engineers on the team work directly with Software Engineers to create solutions that enable the engineers to do their best work. Some of the projects you will work on include:

  • Source control management systems (Git)

  • Software build tooling for applications built on Mac, Windows, and Linux (Python and JavaScript)

  • Continuous Integration and Deployment Systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)

  • Artifact and release management systems (Artifactory)

  • Workflow management and collaboration tools (GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Google Suite)

  • Internal scripts used to package and publish software releases (Python)

  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS), EKS, EBS and Lambda

What You'll Need

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years experience in a software development, DevOps, build or release engineering role.

  • Degree in computer science, electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent work experience

  • Strong programming experience with Python and bash

  • Experience creating or maintaining software build scripts (make, maven, gradle, or other)

  • Experience with Yocto, DSL/Jenkins pipelines to support multi arch (matrix) builds

  • Experience automating workflows including source control (Git), build/CI (Jenkins or other), and Agile project management tools (Jira or other)

  • Experience with DataDog to monitor build infrastructure

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS or other), containers and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes) preferred

  • Experience working on monorepo and building developer toolings.

  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, IAC tools such as terraform, JCasC

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:

$131,000 and $163,400

The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate's geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
