About the Position The Mailroom Lead plays a key role in supporting the elections process by coordinating ballot room setup, the delivery and pickup of ballots. This position supervises temporary staff during Primary and General Elections and ensures the timely and accurate handling of election materials. Responsibilities include conducting postal runs to retrieve mailed ballots, transporting ballots to and from vendors for imaging, and loading and unloading ballot carts at vendor and MCTEC facilities, operating mail-opening machinery to process incoming mail efficiently. We Require
Three years of experience performing office, administrative, and clerical duties High school diploma or GED Other combinations of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications

Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by time of hire Must successfully complete the next scheduled Secretary of State Election Officer Certification Must successfully complete a background screening May be required to use County vehicle, which would require a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and attendance in Maricopa County's Defensive Driving Course Must successfully complete Box Truck Safety Training

Job Contributions
Completes postal runs to the United States Postal Service (USPS). Picks up printed items from Runbeck Elections and drops off ballots for imaging to initiate the signature verification process Confirms and maintains delivery receipts of delivered material for audit purposes Pushes and pulls baker racks that weigh up to 150 pounds and postal cages weighing up to 250 pounds around the mail room, pre-tabulation processing staging area, or secured ballot vault Trains and oversees temporary staff who perform mail room and warehouse support Evaluates, recommends, and implements policies, procedures, and processes in compliance with state statutes and federal election laws Completes ballot room setup and coordinates the preparation of ballots for processing Stands for a long period while utilizing electronic mail opening machinery to open ballots in bulk prior to pre-tabulation ballot processing Completes end-of-day clean-up and mail room organization Assists other divisions of Elections with their daily functions and activities Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 20-25 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly The work will occur in an office and field environment While performing the duties & responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations Overtime and /Holiday hours are mandatory during the election cycle Utilizing County vehicles to travel within Maricopa County Ability to drive and back up a box truck for deliveries and pickups Ability to stand for extended periods/walk on an inclined surface Upper extremity repetitive motion, pivoting a minimum of up to 20 pounds Ability to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist a minimum of up to 20 pounds and carry up to 450 feet Ability to reach overhead and lift a minimum of up to 20 pounds Ability to push/pull a minimum of up to 250 pounds for up to 450 feet Ability to work in close proximity to others All operations will be conducted under livestream cameras and in the presence of political observers Must not engage in any political discussion during the election
