Job Description

The Executive Director of Advancement - Health System will secure major and principal funds from alumni, individuals, grateful patients, corporations, and foundations on behalf of MU Health Care and the School of Medicine.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and inspiration to a team of major gift fundraisers, alumni professionals, and administrative teams to accomplish and exceed goals set for MU Health Care and the School of Medicine.
  • Strategize fundraising efforts within the School of Medicine in conjunction with the Dean, Chief Executive Officer, Vice Chancellor, Department Chairs, and MU Advancement.
  • Identify prospective individual, corporate, and foundation donors in partnership with corporate and foundation relations leadership.
  • Lead the advancement strategic planning priority review as related to all fundraising and alumni affairs activities.
  • Lead the execution of a strategic fundraising plan and program, consistent with the overall strategic plan and mission of the university.
  • Meet regularly with Associate Vice Chancellor and leaders from the School of Medicine and MU Health Care to discuss strategies for top priorities and prospects and to gain support for positional leadership efforts.
  • Partner with leadership, department heads, faculty, and key leaders to assist with prospective strategy efforts that align with the strategic vision and goals to maximize philanthropic success.
  • Develop, implement, and manage an annual advancement plan with specific goals, strategies, and inclusive of all programs, including major and principal gifts, annual giving, planned giving, regional and national giving, and corporate and foundation relations, in partnership with and support from program leaders.
  • Personally manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Manage an individual portfolio of major gift and principal-level donors, making substantive contact and presenting proposals.
  • Identify donor prospects with a strong sphere of influence and affluence, resulting in major and principal gifts.
  • Actively engage in campus prospect management efforts in conjunction with leadership; and
  • Work in collaboration with other Executive Directors and Senior Directors within the Health Systems team.
Shift

M-F 8am-5pm with some travel

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 7 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

* A commitment to the mission of the University of Missouri-to provide all Missourians the benefits of a world-class research university.
* Fundraising experience with a focus on major giving, including an ability to develop and implement strategies for gifts of significant institutional impact.
* Experience with capital campaigns of similar scope at a higher education institution of comparable size.
* Experience collaborating with senior leadership to advance a high-level philanthropy program, earning trust and holding respect, motivating towards greater engagement.
* Project management experience, including planning and critical evaluation of an initiative, designing metrics to monitor performance, and motivating a team to achieve goals.
* Excellent communication skills, including superior verbal and written communication skills.
* Outstanding analytical and organizational skills, including an ability to deliver progress reports and effective data in a timely, accurate manner.
* A desire to serve on a team and an ability to motivate and manage others; and
* Fluency with donor database software.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $150,000 -165,000 annually

Grade: GGS-014
