Overview:

We are hiring an experienced Assistant Project Manager or PM I for a full-time, on-site assignment in Billings, MT to support a major InterClad curtainwall and metal panel project with an expected duration of approximately two years. This role is designed for a construction professional who is comfortable working daily in the field and capable of acting as our primary on-site liaison with the General Contractor and our field crews.

The position focuses on field coordination, communication, and execution support while partnering closely with Project Managers based in the Twin Cities. Candidates should be adaptable, proactive, and ready to take ownership of on-site responsibilities. This role is structured as a long-term position, with an initial on-site assignment in Billings, MT, followed by the intention to relocate to one of our other office locations upon project completion.



Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a dedicated on-site representative for InterClad in Billings, MT, supporting Project Managers and acting as a day-to-day field liaison between the General Contractor, field crews, and the project management team.
  • Support multiple Curtainwall construction projects with responsibilities including change orders, RFIs, submittals, job meetings, billing support, and schedule coordination, with a strong emphasis on field-driven needs.
  • Assist with project setup and mobilization, including equipment leasing, labor coordination, material procurement, and cost tracking.
  • Participate in the daily management of site activities, proactively identifying issues, tracking changes, and communicating impacts related to schedule, cost, or constructability.
  • Attend and contribute to on-site coordination meetings, helping ensure clear communication and alignment between all project stakeholders.
  • Assist with shop drawing reviews, tracking revisions, coordinating submittals, and supporting the drafting and engineering process.
  • Review and analyze Curtainwall, Storefront, and door specifications and related documentation to support constructability and execution in the field.
  • Support project closeout activities, including documentation, punch lists, and customer coordination, helping foster long-term client relationships.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of successful project execution.
  • This role requires a daily on-site presence in Billings, MT for the duration of the project and regular interaction with field crews and trade partners.


Requirements:

  • Associate degree (two-year), vocational certificate, or four-year degree in Construction Management or a related construction field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At a minimum, 3 years of experience in a project support, assistant project manager, or early project management role within the curtainwall, glazing, or exterior envelope industry.
  • Demonstrated construction field experience with the ability to work confidently on an active jobsite and interact effectively with General Contractors, trade partners, and field crews.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change management.
  • Ability to operate independently on site while maintaining clear communication with off-site Project Managers.
  • Willingness and ability to work full-time on site in Billings, MT for approximately two years.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction documents, including specifications, drawings, and details.
  • Working knowledge of the glazing, curtainwall, and building enclosure industry, with the ability to quickly learn project-specific systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Project, and comfortable using Google Workspace for collaboration and documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with field crews, General Contractors, subcontractors, and internal project teams at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently on site, exercise sound judgment, and escalate issues appropriately.

Working conditions:

  • Primary work environment is an active construction jobsite in Billings, MT, with regular coordination from a field office or project trailer.
  • This position requires a daily on-site presence for the duration of the project, with limited travel outside the project location as needed.
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions year-round, including exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and typical construction site elements.
  • Regular physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods, navigating uneven ground, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing occasional bending, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Occasional work in an office or trailer environment for documentation, coordination, and reporting.

Salary Range: $78,000-$92,000 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus. Position is eligible for an auto allowance and gas card.
