Position Purpose
Work with a twelve-person investment team that manages Dartmouth College's over $9 billion endowment. This role will focus on the endowment's global private investment portfolio, and will work across private equity, venture capital, and real assets. The responsibilities include performing due diligence on prospective investment managers and direct co-investments; monitoring current managers; supporting the CEO, CIO and Managing Directors in establishing, monitoring and enhancing the endowment's overall investment strategy; and developing tools to monitor portfolio exposures, liquidity, and other key metrics. The role offers exposure to all asset classes through team meetings and an open culture of collaboration.
This position requires a passion for investments; a commitment to teamwork; exceptional communication skills; and an ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously. This position is designed for a minimum tenure of 1-3 years, though associates may take on additional responsibilities over time as merited and could eventually be considered for more senior roles at the discretion of the senior management team.

Key Accountabilities


Description
Quantitative Investment Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct private investment reporting and analytics, including assessing manager and sub-portfolio performance, exposures, and cash flows. Projects include working with third-party databases and resources.
  • Provide recommendations for new processes, analyses and approaches that will enhance the overall effectiveness of investment reporting.

Private Investment Strategy and Investment Manager Due Diligence:

  • Work with the team to consider the endowment's overall strategy for investing in private assets.
  • Analyze market trends and pursue asset class/industry research to support investment efforts
  • The manager due diligence process includes the initial screening of investment managers; quantitative performance analysis and qualitative due diligence; participating in meetings with the managers; and participating in internal deliberations that lead to an investment recommendation.
  • Work closely with the team in the evaluation and monitoring of existing and potential new third-party investment managers and direct co-investments.
  • Regularly attends manager meetings and select conferences, periodically asking pertinent questions.
  • Coordinates meeting materials, notes and captures key meeting points.
  • Begins to develop understanding of team, structure, alignment, process, terms and other factors pertinent to the investment due diligence process.
