As a Network Specialist, you will play a key role in providing reporting, training, supporting, and documentation for the Outside Plant (OSP) engineering and construction workflow in the GIS system. This position will work closely with the Network Service Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC), Cable and Out of Territory Engineering and Construction teams to ensure the GIS system positively contributes to the overall team success. This position will assist in process improvement documentation, system release testing, training internal and external partners, and supporting NS users with GIS system and process questions. This position will also be responsible for GIS data clean up and reporting.

The Network Specialist will focus on collaboration with OSP engineering and construction peers to onboard new associates and support users as a first line of escalation for engineering or construction GIS system related process questions. You will work closely with GIS teams to understand the engineering and construction needs, as well as participate in end user testing.

The position requires a strong process improvement and documentation skill set. The ability to work with and build relationships with all levels of employees in the company is essential to success. Knowledge of the TDS GIS system is desired.

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.

This position can be hired at a Network Specialist (2025-28707) or Network Specialist I (2025-28708) level depending on the skills and qualifications of the candidate. Responsibilities

    Assist in the development, improvement and documentation of OSP engineering and construction GIS-related processes.
  • First level of escalated technical GIS issues from Network Service's engineering and construction teams including determination of issue routing if unable to resolve concern themselves.
  • Provides insight into GIS improvements to gain efficiencies in the engineering and construction workflow.
  • Provide GIS training for Network Service engineering and construction resources both internal and external to TDS.
  • Provide support and assistance to Network Service engineering and construction resource activities before and after rollout of GIS enhancements.
  • Execute data integrity analysis including updating GIS fields and identifying root cause of data integrity cause.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree (or higher) -OR- 2+ years of professional work experience.
  • 2+ years' of experience in Voice, Data, or Video networking.

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with limited guidance and minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications, with advanced-to-expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and a strong comprehension of Power Point and Word functionalities.
  • Comfortable, professional, and economic in communications involving complex GIS concepts to all levels of employees, including those at an executive level.
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure, maintain a strong attention to detail, and meet or exceed expectations within tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Pro, AGOL, Python including tool customization, troubleshooting, map creation, symbology edits, along with bulk update attributes.
  • Proven written and oral communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven process improvement and documentation of step-by-step processes skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of tools like Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx.
  • Organized, self-motivated, detail orientated, analytical, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • A team player who can work through challenges.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative and courteous manner with diverse work groups.
