Staff Position Summary

The Senior Nurse will provide leadership in clinical operations, ensuring high standards of patient care, staff development, and adherence to healthcare regulations and best practices in conjunction with the Texas Board of Nursing licensure. This role will also support strategic health initiatives and ensure the daily functioning of the health centers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • In-depth understanding of evidence-based nursing practice, patient care protocols, and clinical standards in alignment with the Texas Board of Nursing regulations.

  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal healthcare laws, HIPAA, infection control standards, and accreditation requirements affecting clinical services in educational or community settings.

  • Ability to create, update, and implement nursing and clinical guidelines in line with institutional policies and public health mandates.

  • Awareness of population health principles, particularly in underserved or diverse communities.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, including mentoring, coaching, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution.

  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to evaluate client care needs, monitor outcomes, and implement quality improvement initiatives.

  • Skilled in managing daily health center operations, including staff scheduling, resource utilization, and workflow optimization.

  • Ability to think strategically and implement new models of care or service delivery that align with institutional goals for health equity and innovation.

  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in managing patient records, staff issues, and confidential health matters.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with students, staff, administration, and external health partners.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program. Official transcripts are required.

  • Current Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.

  • One year of service on Health Services & Promotion team.

  • Current and valid Texas driver's license.

  • Ability to work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. workday especially during heavy registration peak times including nights and weekends.

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides clinical oversight to regional nursing staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance with health regulations and operations while enforcing the Health Service & Promotion Manual.

  • Oversees daily nursing operations, including scheduling and resource management.

  • Provides clinical leadership and serve as the primary point of contact for nursing staff.

  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations.

  • Coordinate health service programming and collaboration efforts, including vaccine clinics and reproductive health initiatives.

  • Implements and oversees the EHR system to improve service delivery.

  • Utilizes data analytics to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

  • Monitors client care outcomes and implement quality improvement measures.

  • Ensures that clients receive appropriate and timely healthcare services.

  • Precept and trains new nursing staff ensuring their effective integration to the department and campus nursing role.

  • Functions as a liaison between nursing staff and leadership to streamline workflow and enhance efficiency.

  • Budget plan with leadership and ensure proper funding for health programs and clinical operations. Develop grant proposals and manage funding for health promotion and nursing service delivery.

  • Completes required Dallas College professional development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
