Description

The NISC IV program has an opening for Aeronautical Information Specialists supporting the FAA in its Oklahoma City location. The Aeronautical Information Specialist provides support to the FAA Aeronautical Information Services Group (AJV-A). The contractor must provide technical expertise, transition support, and project implementation service to the Federal Aviation Administration in support of the national database.

Primary Responsiblities:

  • Applying experience and comprehensive knowledge applicable to aeronautical studies in accordance with Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR), Part 77 notice criteria for construction or alteration of certain structures in the NAS.
  • Review of construction proposals for completeness and accuracy.
  • Evaluation of effects of proposed construction on the navigable airspace.
  • Analysis of the cumulative effects of such proposals to minimize the impact to aviation while balancing the need for construction.
  • Coordination of aeronautical information within established channels of communication and relationships both within and outside the FAA to ensure expeditious receipt, effective processing, and issuance of time-critical NAS flight data.
  • Administrative extension requests
  • Terminating aeronautical studies when a structure has been demolished
  • Processing FAA Form 7460-2, Part I and/or Part II notifications within the iOEAAA program.
  • Coordinate with the project sponsor to either have them file electronically or where appropriate input the data contained on the paper document into an electronic application.
  • Assist first time obstruction evaluation filers through the process of filing an OE case using the external OE/AAA website.
  • Research structures that are of concern to the public, such as from unlit tower reports, to determine if the FAA has received notice of those structures or has a record of the owner/operator.
  • Process FAA Form 7460-2, Part I and/or Part II notifications and if necessary, as well as generating Termination letters for non-responses to Project Status Reports (PSR) letters within iOEAAA program.
  • Assisting with obstacle position verification
  • Maintaining records of actions processed through the IFP Impact Team
  • Participating in IFP Impact Team meetings and supporting as needed via notes and reports

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in an Aeronautics, Aviation, or Air Traffic Control career field with4 or more years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for determining qualifications.
  • Airspace and Procedures background (Instrument Flight Procedures)
  • Air Traffic Control Experience (FAA, Contractor or Military)
  • Commercial Instrument Rated Pilot (Military or Civilian)
  • Certified Instrument Flight Instructor.Previous experience with FAA or DoD terminal instrument procedures (TERPS).
