*Job Title: Data Center Technician (Intermediate Level)* *Job Description* We are seeking a reliable and motivated *Data Center Technician* to support daily operations within a large-scale data center environment. This role is ideal for technicians with hands-on experience in rack & stack, structured cabling, and basic server hardware support who are looking to grow their career in data center operations.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment with clear paths for advancement. *Shift Schedule* * *A Shift:* Sunday - Tuesday * *B Shift:* Thursday - Saturday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM * *Every other Wednesday:* 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM * 12-hour shifts *Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements* * *Hands:* Level 5 cut, abrasion, and impact-resistant gloves * *Feet:* Hard-toe work boots that: * Cover the ankle * Meet *ASTM F2412* and *ASTM F2413* standards for protective footwear *Key Responsibilities* * Rack, stack, and cable servers, network devices, and rPDUs, including proper cable management * Support structured cabling deployments (rack and overhead cabling) under supervision * Assist with physical installation, relocation, and removal of IT equipment * Decommission servers and network equipment following documented procedures (no data scanning required) * Perform basic server hardware repairs using standardized documentation * Conduct physical audits of data center assets and inventory * Move and manage secured drive destruction bins and assist with hard drive shredding processes * Maintain cleanliness of the data center by removing debris, packaging, and unused materials * Support inventory management, rack clean-up, and spine/row organization * Perform rack movements and reconfigurations as needed * Assist with general facility and operational support tasks as assigned *Required Skills* * Data center operations and procedures * Rack & stack experience * Structured cabling (copper and/or fiber) * Punch-downs and cable terminations * Cable management best practices * Ticketing systems and basic documentation * Ability to follow detailed technical procedures * Physical ability to lift and move equipment in a data center environment *Preferred Certifications* While not required, the following certifications are *strongly preferred* and will help candidates stand out: * *CompTIA A+* * *CompTIA Network+* * *BICSI Installer (or equivalent cabling certification)* * *Cisco CCNA (entry-level or in progress)* * *Data Center Technician or Data Center Operations certifications* * *OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (Data Center or Construction focus)* *Experience Level* * *Intermediate level* (typically 1-3+ years of hands-on data center or technical infrastructure experience) *Job Type & Location* This is a Contract position based out of Boydton, VA. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
