At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations.

We are seeking an Analog and Mixed-Signal Design Engineer to design and develop advanced integrated circuits for our revolutionary TeraWave satellite communications network. This role will be instrumental in creating the high-performance analog and mixed-signal components that enable our constellation to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps globally. The ideal candidate brings expertise in analog circuit design, data converters, and satellite communications, thriving in a fast-paced environment where innovation meets mission-critical execution.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop ASICs that integrate both analog and digital processing for satellite communication systems, ensuring high performance and efficiency
  • Create high-speed, high-resolution data converters (ADCs and DACs) critical for satellite signal processing chains
  • Design precision analog front-end circuits including amplifiers, filters, and reference circuits for data converters
  • Implement advanced RF processing technologies that support satellite missions with reduced size, weight, and power (SWaP)
  • Develop mixed-signal circuits for Q/V-band and optical communication interfaces
  • Perform circuit simulations, layout, and verification of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits
  • Design low-noise, low-power analog circuits optimized for space environments
  • Utilize data analytics to optimize ASIC performance and drive innovation in satellite communication
  • Collaborate with digital design teams to ensure seamless integration of analog and digital domains
  • Support prototype testing, characterization, and qualification of mixed-signal components
  • Work with semiconductor foundries to ensure manufacturability and yield optimization
  • Document design processes, test results, and performance characteristics
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design issues throughout the development cycle

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design
  • Demonstrated expertise in data converter design (ADCs and DACs)
  • Experience with industry-standard EDA tools for analog/mixed-signal design and simulation
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes and design rules
  • Understanding of analog circuit characterization and test methodologies
  • Experience with high-speed interface design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with focus on analog/mixed-signal design
  • Experience with high-speed data converters (>1GSPS) for communications applications
  • Knowledge of radiation effects on analog circuits and mitigation techniques
  • Experience with CMOS, BiCMOS, or other advanced semiconductor processes
  • Background in designing for space or other harsh environments
  • Experience with low-power design techniques for battery or solar-powered systems
  • Understanding of digital signal processing integration with analog components
  • Familiarity with space qualification requirements for electronic components
